LA 3228 represents a short former alignment of US 190, at that time northwest of Mandeville but since annexed by the sprawling city. It was designated in the 1990's.
LA 3228 meets the only road of consequence on its journey, Sharp Road (former St. Tammany Parish Highway 24). Sharp Road allows for a connection to LA 59 that bypasses Mandeville proper.
