Mile markers on Interstate 510 count from north to south. Exit 1B leads to Lake Forest Boulevard.
Although hard to see with the winter sun, the next exit along Interstate 510 southbound is Exit 2A, connecting to US 90, a.k.a. Chef Menteur Highway.
The right lane defaults to Exit 2A, leaving two lanes of Interstate to pass over US 90.
Exit 2A departs here. Just over the overpass, Interstate 510 will encounter its final interchange with Almonaster Boulevard, which also connects to Old Gentilly Road, an old alignment of US 90.
As the ramp from US 90 eastbound joins with I-510, the second-to-last guide sign for Exit 2C is seen.
At this point, Exit 2C departs and Interstate 510/LA 47 continue straight ahead toward Chalmette... but Interstate 510 will END! at the foot of the bridge you see ahead.
Now on Interstate 510 northbound, we encounter Exit 2B for Chef Menteur Highway (US 90) eastbound. The ramp is elevated.
Exit 2A is not that far away now. By the way, ”Chef Menteur“ happens to mean ”Chief Liar“ in French. Just thought I'd toss that in here.
Exit 2A departs here, with Exit 1B lurking 3/4 mile ahead. The Exit 2 complex is a six-ramp partial cloverleaf.
Here, we see a VMS, an assembly formerly used for the Exit 1B sign, and the new placement of the sign just past the overpass.
Exit 1B departs here. The next exit is Exit 1A, for Interstate 10. In the distance on the right, you can see some of the ruins of Six Flags New Orleans, formerly Jazzland.
The lane gained from the Lake Forest Boulevard onramp becomes exit-only for I-10. Note that this sign is missing its exit tab.
One more guide sign to go before Exit 1A.
Exit 1A departs for I-10 here. Interstate 510 meets its END! here, as the highway continues only as LA 47, destined for Little Woods.
On the Exit 1A ramps, you have a simple choice - left (I-10 West, to Downtown New Orleans) or right (I-10 East, to Slidell).
Here, we are on Almonaster Boulevard in New Orleans East. Note the signage - Interstate 510 signage ends at this interchange for southbound. Interstate 510 actually ends a short distance south of this interchange.
Here on Old Gentilly Road eastbound, you can see the bridge in the distance that carries LA 47 over the Industrial Canal. Interstate 510 does not traverse the bridge because the bridge is not up to Interstate standard.
