Guitar Museum Sobrance, Slovakia
Guitar museum in Sobrance is one of the best kept Slovakia's secrets. Established by musician and guitar maker Jan Ferko, it exhibits about 200 hundred of about 1000 guitars Mr Ferko have collected in about 30 years creating the largest collection of guitars in Europe. What makes it even more unique is that most of the instruments are “Made in Czechoslovakia”.
Still, there is an international connection. In Britain in the 1950s, most people couldn't afford expensive instruments and some had to do with Made in Czechoslovakia. Among them was George Harrison, the silent Beatle. Jolana Grazioso, sold in the UK as Futurama, was his first electric guitar, and is featured on early Beatles' photos from Hamburg. Jolana Grazioso can be seen in Sobrance. Sobrance is about a 60 minute drive east from Kosice.
