Strawberry Festival 2009

The 59th Annual Strawberry Festival at St Barnabas Episcopal Church, Falmouth MA. This is our largest community outreach fundraiser. Funds raised at the festival are used for outreach projects.

2008-weathervane

Our original weathervane was lost in a storm in December 2006. Today, with thanks to artistry of Chuck Cunniff of Falmouth Sheet Metal and with the aid of the Falmouth Fire Department, our rooster is back! Weathervanes in the form of a rooster, known as weathercocks, are traditional on church spires. They recall Peter's betrayal of Christ: 'I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me." (Luke 22:34) It is a quiet reminder of our human frailty and Jesus' understanding of it before we ever figure it out for ourselves. He still loves us - even when we are at our worst.

Our Annual Strawberry Festival, under the able leadership of co-chairs Greg Strohm and Doris Weeks, was held Saturday, June 21. Beautiful weather, lots of fun, food & folks!

2007 Blessing of the Animals

Over 100 people, around 60 dogs, 3 cats, and various stuffed animals joined in worship at our annual Blessing of the Animals service.

Chillin' at Church

Our Youth Group has created a new worship opportunity. Tonight was the first service. The next Youth Chillin' Services will be 7pm on April 15, May 13, and June 10 - Come check it out!

Blessing of the Animals

On the Sunday after the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi - patron saint of animals and the environment- we held our worship service outside and had a blessing of the animals as part of our Eucharist. St. Francis of Assisi experienced all of God's creation as sacred. He saw God in "Brother Sun" and "Sister Moon." He preached to the birds and animals. In his Canticle of the Creatures, he writes, “All praise to you, Oh Lord, for all these brother and sister creatures.”

Lobsters on the Lawn

The Dept. of Music at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church is sponsoring weekly lobster roll dinners as a community builder and to help raise funds for our music series, Psallite et Gaudete! (Sing & Rejoice)

Parish Hall Clean Up

The Lower Parish Hall is being readied for parish use. The first step is to Clean! The Vestry toured the rooms before the clean-up day. Parishioners joined with our Boy Scout Troop to do demolition and scrubbing on a Saturday morning.
