These spheres were in thebeginning used to mark their holy places. Later on they were used as a statussymbol. El pueblo delos Diquís en el suroeste de Costa Rica y el noroeste de Panamá ha construidoesferas desde 200 al 800 A.D. El diámetro de estas piedras oscila entre 8 hasta250 cm. Estas esferas servían al comienzo para marcar sus sitios sagrados. Mástarde se convirtieron en un símbolo de estatus.
