Diamond campground is in Woodland Park, CO. The elevation is 8500' so it is cool all summer. Air conditioning is not required at all. There are thousands of acres of National Forest within 5 minutes. Our RV is in the background.
The office.
Entrance road. Lots of room for "big rigs" to safely enter. The roads are packed gravel.
Our RV site. Right across the drive from the office. This is a few inches of snow in mid May.
Our RV site in the summer. Easy access to the office.
Another view of our site.
Our RV. We have a nice wooden deck, a 125 gallon propane tank, free wifi, and are paid for all hours. For workamping, we think this is a great deal. There is so much to do in the area we keep coming back!
It can snow here in June, but this is late May. Very pretty, and it melts in a short time.
View of Pikes Peak from the campground drive - May 24. Yes, it snows here occasionally that late. But it is sunny and warm.
In front of our RV site we have a shed that the workampers can store stuff in. It is very convenient for us. We also get free firewood.
Rear view of the office. Note the wifi antennas on the roof. We have 5 AP's, providing pretty good reception everywhere in the park, despite the heavy trees.
The RV sites are nestled through the woods. Some in Aspens, some in pines. They are scattered, not lined up like a parking lot.
Some of the sites have lots of space around them. Some are closer together, but oriented so your neighbors are not on top of you.
This site is on 2 corners. The wooden structure surrounds a 125 gallon propane tank. This is a "worker" site.
The bath house. You will not find a cleaner bath house in any campground.
There are plenty of "big rig" sites, but not all sites can take big rigs. The trees stop big rigs from getting into certain sites. But it is better not to cut down trees.....
If you are looking for paved roads, sidewalks, and street lights you need to look elsewhere. Diamond is "rustic" - nestled into the pines and aspen trees. The roads are packed gravel, and in good repair. The sites are packed gravel.
Yes, we have bears occasionally in the campground. In this case, the mother and 3 cubs were scared up a tree just outside of our site.
This cub is coming down the tree right in front of our truck.
The cubs were up the tree for a couple of hours, until we got the people away from them and they could escape to the forest next to us.
Bears love trash. Fortunately, we generally do not have an issue with "trash bears". This one did not get into the dumpster.
We have lots of different wildlife. Here is a mother fox with 5 kits. They live in the area. Picture shot from the door of our RV. We see them every day.
One of the five kits. Picture from our RV door.
Mother fox watching me.
We have them here, too.
We have deer that are in the park almost daily.
These guys can eat a lot of plants.
They are "town deer" and are not afraid of people at all.
A doe and her fawn in our front yard. Picture taken from our RV door.
