Day 1: Waiting at the train station in Zurich. Shown right to left: Dot Reinstrom, Mark Center, Susan Center, Bruce Perkins and Linda Perkins.
After 3 additional hours after a long train ride, these were beautiful views
Little did we know that these views would barley be visible at the alltitude we were traveling to.
Dinner the first night. Juaqeem was not a freindly waiter
On the train heading to Jungfrauhof
Day 2: While our hotel was at 4500 feet, we were now on a train to the top of mount Jungfrau, which is right next to the Eiger. Destination is 11783 feet.
There were a few stops on the way up to take pictures. I could not believe how not only was that waterfall invisible, but so was the town.
This is entering the ice palace. These caverns are 99% ice. The floors, walls and ceilings are all ice. Only the hand rails were man made. Inside there were ice carving throughout. I have this on video and will try to post it soon. Oh yea... Mark is not shown because he freaked out and thought he lost his wallet so he took the train back down. He met up with us soon only to tell us that he found it in his pocket.
As we get closer, it is much more like winter. About 30 degrees
This is almost the top of the mountain. What was most unbelievable was that there was a restaurant the could hold over 500 people up here.
It went down closer to 20 degrees when a cloud would land on us.
There were actually people snow boarding and skiing up here too.
A picture of the Eiger. There was a movie in the 80's based on this mountain... The Eiger Sanction.
Back down at 6000 feet, there were a number of restaurants. Cows roam all over the place freely.
The 6 of us decided to walk down to the next train station. It was a pretty easy walk.
After the previous phot shots, Dot and I decided to contiue down the hill ourselves... Not Good.
We came to a fork in the road. One looked like the long way and one looked like the short way. In our casual shoes, we (or rather I) picked the short way. We literally had to go down the hill sideways.
The path was basically what I was sitting on. As we came over the hill there were random cows all over the place.
The view from our room at the Alpen House in Wengen.
Day 3: Innsbruck... Most of these shots come from the place of the long jum in the 1976 Olympics. Next time we talk, remind me to tell you about "Der Klacker".
This is the platform from where they jump. The bottom is shaped like a bowl. Just beyond the grass is a cemetary that the jumpers look at on their decent.
I forget the name of this castle but it was really unique. Tons of armor a swords.
There was so much wealth that armor suits were even made for the children, to protect them in case they were threatened.
The first of many beers
The first of many castles
One of many churches
It's been a long day
There are no elevators to these castles. Everyone was a pretty good workout.
Yes... I had a bad hair day
If you look at the 2 panels on the bottom, they are advertiser names. I've never seen such a promotional product.
This was one of the most beautiful places. On top of a 5 star hotel having dinner. The pictures really dont do it justice.
Most of the streets were this type of cobble stone
Many people use these old churches for weddings
These next shots are from a private vineyard. Oh well... We had to switch from beer to wine for the afternoon.
Global Warming demonstration
Most of these next pictures are all from "The Sound of Music"
Yes... this is the real gazebo
This is the road where the kids were hanging from the trees
The Abbey
While in Salzburg, we were there for the very last day of the Mozart Festival
The back wall to these buildings was the rock wall
A real German OOOmpa band and Beer Garden
