300mm + Sigma 2x TC
This is effectively a 900mm f/8 lens (on a DX sensor) and is very hard to keep steady even on my tripod so some softness could be from lens movement. Tripod is Bogen 3021 legs w/ Bogen 3047 head. The skinny bottom set of legs were not extended.

Comparison of test shots made with Nikon 300mm f/4.5 Manual Focus and Nikon 300mm f/4.0 AF (non AF-S version). I have suspected that AF lens was not as sharp as my other nikkors so I did these test. Notice the strange bokeh produced by the AF lens also.
