I bought a 5 gallon "Homer" bucket with a lid at Home Depot to resupply 7 days of food from the Muir Trail Ranch to Whitney Portal.
To hike the distance from Muir Trail Ranch to Mt. Whitney, I needed 7 days of food to fit into a Bearikade Weekender: 700 cubic inches.
It all fits. One dinner and snack will be carried in the pack for the first day 's meal.
