Bay Bridge, from Gordon Biersch Brewery with the Han and Jer
My rental car for the week. Certainly put that thing through the ringer.
Powell St / Union Sq area
Trolleys, and the ridiculous line of people standing around to use them.
Seriously, are they that interesting?
The line was a good 200 people strong.
Virgin Megastore.
Union Square. They had these heart things all around the city, must have been some art exhibit.
Union Square.
Heart thing in Union Square.
Yerba Buena Gardens
Another heart statue, this one in Yerba Buena Gardens
Some church.
Church again.
Really creepy statue.
I was apparently obsessed with this church.
One of many crooked pictures.
This guy was doing some sort of Tai Chi routine. I saw a lot of this.
AT&T Park, formerly Pac Bell Park, formerly SBC Park
They were giving away something during this game. Apparently it was some relatively expensive trinket, and tickets are so cheap for the games that I actually saw people buy tickets at the booth, go in, get the trinket, and then leave rather than watch the game. Wow.
AT&T Park from the parking lot.
The marina behind AT&T Park
Guess where?
Again behind the park.
From the back.
There was a neat green area next to the park.
Looks suspiciously like the Angels logo if you ask me.
Funny story - this guy's dog chased another dog down the boardwalk area, and both dogs ran right into this little diner and through the kitchen.
Bay Bridge.
The Tall Ships were in town.
More Bay Bridge.
Where I had dinner on Saturday night.
Bay Bridge again.
Art.
Creepy-ass art.
Coit Tower, from the shore.
Effective sign.
Seriously, there were about 30 bikes parked next to these signs.
Coit Tower on the hill.
Some... Scuba... super hero. Hey Aquaman.... go kill some fish!
The Hard Rock.
Crab in front of the infamous Pier 39.
Pier 39
Pier 39. Is it me or does Dreyers look exactly like Edy's? I was so confused, until I found out they're the same company. Come to think of it, I'm still confused.
I so wanted to go on this. Stupid adulthood.
Pier 39. 'Twas crowded.
I didn't go in the lefty store. Stupid me.
Thanks to Don Draper, all I can think of is a slide projector now.
That's an impressive stacking doll.
That's a big lizard.
One of about a thousand shots of Alcatraz. Since I couldn't go (tickets sold out) I figured I'd take as many shots as possible, apparently.
Submarine.
Submarine. Prepare for dive!
Battleship.
Fisherman's Wharf (duh)
Hooters and In 'n Out Burger. What more do you need?
Which is it, Jack's? 84 or 85 beers?
These guys were singing shanties. It was awesome.
There's always money in the Banana Stand.
Tall ships. I think this one was called "diversity."
(that was a joke)
Ghiradelli Square. Who could resist that siren song?
I'm pretty sure Men in Black have something to do with this thing.
In Ghiradelli Square.
They give you a free chocolate every time you walk in. Awesome.
Ghiradelli Square
Fort Mason
Alcatraz again.
More ships
The park by Fort Mason.
The park by Fort Mason. You wouldn't believe how many people there were on bicycles in San Francisco. Amazing.
Fort Mason again.
Ritzy houses.
Crissy Field, which is in front of the Golden Gate Bridge
Golden Gate, encased in fog.
I don't know what this is. It was across from Crissy Field.
And apparently under construction.
By North Beach (the Italian area) there is a bit of a red light district, with a bunch of porn theaters, adult shops, and strip clubs.
Chinatown.
Looks like a financial center to me.
And they call the Italians tacky.
Chinatown "entrance"
Again
Odd.
From my second trip to San Fran, when I conquered the hills. They were quite steep.
Like, really steep.
Grace Cathedral
Fountain of the Tortoises
TransAmerica building (I believe).
Another Dharma Station.
No comment necessary.
Back in Chinatown
These people were all in line, and I had no idea why. Then I found out - to get a free newspaper. Makes sense.
OK, i get it, Chinatown.
This little cafe was PACKED. Line down the street. I really wanted to go in, assuming it was good or famous, but was too hungry to wait.
Sts. Peter and Paul Church
Coit Tower.
The view from atop the hill.
Going towards Coit Tower.
Up a lot of stairs.
Still heading towards Coit.
Almost there!
There we are. I didn't actually go in. I don't know why, I was running a bit low on time.
Hell of a place to have to move stuff.
These houses were right on the main tourist stairway up to Coit Tower. I can't imagine having that much foot traffic on my front stoop.
Lombard Street. At the other end, you can see the twisty part.
Zoom in a bit on the twisty part. I didn't make the trek over there.
Live art.
Alcatraz, yet again.
Hey Ariel, how ya doin' kid!
Boat
The hill up through Fort Mason
Golden Gate, with less fog.
Golden Gate
Again.
Crissy Park
More fancy houses by Golden Gate
This road had a bike path, a walking path, a car path.... ah, city planning.
This guy was awesome. He would sit there with his two bushes, and then jump at people as they walked by. There was a crowd across the street watching him scare people. Then, when people would give him change, he'd yell "PAPER!" (as in paper money only).
Walking along Embarcadero
Robert Arneson's "Yin and Yang." Creepy.
More along Embarcadero
Some weird water fountain structure thing. EDIT : The Abraham Lincoln Brigade Monument : http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/03/31/BAB6VSI4R.DTL
There was water flowing out of random openings in this thing. It was very odd.
SAVE the clock tower!
