As you approach the Tillamook Cheese Factory on Hwy 101 the forest speads out into a broad valley, where every piece of property is a dairy farm. This is about 60 miles due west of Portland, Or.

The Astoria Bridge is incredibily huge at 3.8 miles long across the mighty Columbia River. At this range you can't even see the semi trucks traveling over the state line from Oregon to Washington.

Birch Bay is very shallow , at low tide the sun warms the soil so when the tide comes back up the water is nice and warm for swimming in the Summer.
