In the heart of Sherwood forest was a little town called Ollerton. We were looking for a place to crash and we were directed to The Hop Pole - interesting name for a joint, but they put on some good tucker, some fantastic service and a place for us to crash for the night
rocked up at Windsor Castle to find the this flag was flying, means Lizzy is at home for the day. Unfortunately she is in a pretty secure area and she didn't want to come out and meet us
We were warrned we might be late for the bus if we stuck around for the changing of the guard...
and wouldn't ya know it - we got stuck. During the changing of the guard, the gates are locked and no one is allowed in and no one is allowed out.
so we watched
then i noticed the gates open so I headed that way and snapped a piccie - as it turns out, this was very norty - not just leaving, but also stopping to take a photo. Out the front was a copper with a bloody big gun
view from outside the castle. we weren't allowed to take piccies inside the castle but it was awesome. the state apartments are stunning and the stuff on display is so well displayed
plans were flying over about every 2 minutes
and the birds even more often
We next headed off too the town of Bath, to look at the ancient Roman Bath's.
I think if we had of seen this town earlier in our trip, we would have gone back and spent an entire day in Bath. It was pretty awesome
Then finally, Stonehenge.
"wait... i'm not ready yet...." opps
we looked around to ya know, soak up all the atmosphere and we noticed this little group huddled together. We thought WTF, maybe they are huddled together because its so cold
we went over for a closer squiz. and we found out that they had been here for hours praying, praying to the stones so that next time the aliens come to earth that they will be hand picked for alien anal probes.
not sure if the mounds are visible, but they were burial mounds. Heep's of pple where dumped in there and buried. But grave robbers have since removed anything of value
We jusmped on a boat for a cruise up the Thames, I was dreading this as once again I thought the sun would stay out all day so I had me shorts and t-shirt on (mind you anyone else would have realised after being caught out every day for the previous 20 days that maybe shorts are not a good idea)
The good thing was, the boat was really well heated and we got to see them open and lower the tower bridge
London like to spend billions of dollars on designing buildings that look like vegitables - this is the onion.
and this one is called the gerkin
Due to the terrible weather the day before we opted to save our trip on the EYE until the next morning - good choice, the sun was out (well it was out for a couple of hours)
Houses of Parliament, there was all kinds of security happening cause of the G20 summit
We were pretty impressed with all the bits and pieces of art that is scattered alllll over London
They really go into a lot of detail with their statues
a LOT of detail...
