"It took me a few minutes to figure it out as well, and is not so obvious in this picture... The weed was hanging on only by a single small root. The part above ground was allowed to fly around as the breeze moved it. Over time, and shifting winds, the weed has completed so many rotations around that single root, that we see this sweeping formation in the sand. This was the sole full-circle formation I saw. All others were semi-circle as the weed(s) were better rooted."
