The miniature I'll be working on, still in the box. Sasha DuBois, Time Chaser by Reaper, in their Chronoscope line
Extreme closeup of the miniature in the blister pack, just because
Rear view, straight out of the box
Front view
The mini doesn't stand straight in the base, so we'll need to sort that out at some stage
Last full view before any work is done
Some mould lines visible on the boot, cloak and arm (not shown), although in generally it's a very clean mini
Another angle showing the mould lines on the foot
Some flash and mould lines on the arm
Front view after filing and knife work, the mold lines on the boot are gone
Side view, the flash hides the spot where the mould lines have been removed
Rear view, although mould lines weren't visible from this angle anyway
Side view, after filing
The undercoat also brings out all the detail and makes the clothing layers more obvious
White undercoat allows you to see any missed mould / flash lines
Flash / mould lines on the arms are gone, but the white paint has highlighted a mould line on the bracelet and glove
Another line shows up on the right arm, thanks to the white undercoat
The boot mould lines are cleaned up
The top of the left boot no longer has the deep mould line
Second file and undercoat, the mould lines on the sleeve are gone
Same sleeve, second angle
Again, after the second file and undercoat, the mould lines on the other arm are better, but not totally removed
This show shows the mould line on the hand is still slightly visible
Included to show scale
The needle files I use to get rid of flash / mould lines
First layer of flesh (Elf Flesh, Citadel)
Different angle, after first layer of flesh
Second coat of thin flesh paint
Dark wash applied to the skin
First few drybrushing layers applied to the skin
Whites of the eyes done
Large eyes, aiming for a more cartoon style look
Slight red wash over the lips
Base hair coat on (front view doesn't really help)
Rear view of the first hair layer, too dark to be useful
Side view of the hair layer
Hair has been washed and brushed (hah! see what I did there?)
Pointless front view of the hair
First base coat for trousers and top
Green washed and dry brushed
Started the scab red coat
Rear shot of the coat
Filled in the harder to reach places on the coat (had to make it really bright to show up the bits at the back)
Side shot of the coat
Working on the coat washes
Washes don't look as dramatic on the front of the coat
Coat dry brushed, boots started
Slightly longer shot
Much longer shot showing the pot I used to hold the mini's while painting
This is more representative of how the mini's look when you're holding them in front of you
Light grey coating on the cuffs and epauletts
Light grey coat on the back of the coat detailing
Right-hand half glove painted black
Left hand half glove painted black
Underside of the left hand glove
Top view of both gloves
First coat of yellow on the cuffs
First coat of yellow on the rear detail
Silver base coat on the boot metalwork
Boot metalwork washed with armour wash
Yellow second coat applied and edges tidied up
Second layer of yellow done and touched up
I touched up the yellow using the new magnifying visor
Remembered to fill in the yellow detail on the top of the shirt
First dark wash on the yellow paintwork
Rear shot of the first dark wash on the yellow
Side view of the yellow wash
Yellow highlights done, watch done, started on belt detail and goggles
Rear view of yellow detail, watch and goggles
Top view of watch (looks better in real life I swear, but not much)
Slightly more detail on the belt
Figure complete (base needs some work!)
Side shot showing the goggles
View slightly above
Complete figure (base not done) - white background
Complete - rear shot (white background)
