Play adapted from Samuel Beckett's novel L'Innommable | adapted and performed by Rufus | mise-en-scène by Manon Rony | lighting by Zoé Narcy L'Innommable, the third volume in a trilogy by Beckett, follows Molloy and Malone Meurt. The novel features a motionless man, incapable of moving, incapable of speaking, incapable of not speaking...Quite simply a man reduced to his most simple form of expression, aware of his conscience. However, because he has to speak, he talks about what he knows, or moreover what he doesn't know, what the voices in his head tell him. Beckett always go beyond simply questioning life, what it is and the signs of its presence or of its absence. Rufus, a French theatre and cinema comedian for thirty years, is known for his austere, dreamy and deadpan performances. A fetish actor in films by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Rufus notably starred in Delicatessen, The City of Lost Children, Amelie and A Very Long Engagement.
