My car at the Matterhorn Creek Trailhead
After a while I reached the tree-line and could see Matterhorn Peak in the distance (not the Swiss Matterhorn!)
Here I left the main trail, and continued on the Wetterhorn trail.
Here I have reached the saddle, where the southeast ridge of Wetterhorn starts to rise.
VERY big people would probably get stuck in this notch.
Lyngve above Ship's Prow and aiming for one of the two notches in front of him.
The class 3 gully on the final pitch below the summit of Wetterhorn. It resembled a steep staircase.
A funny ledge only few metres below the summit. I rounded the corner and scrambled up the last few metres.
Lyngve on the summit of Wetterhorn Peak (4272m). The bulky summit of Uncompahgre Peak can be seen behind him (right).
More summit views from Wetterhorn
A picture from the upper part of the southeast ridge. Ship's Prow on the right hand side.
Exposed but not difficult down-climbing (class 3)
I'm down from Wetterhorn Peak, ready to start the long hike to Uncompahgre Peak (right). Matterhorn Peak is on the left hand side.
Fast hiking on a good trail, and Uncompahgre Peak is not too far away any longer.
Looking back at Wetterhorn Peak (left) and Matterhorn Peak (right)
Well trodden trail on the shoulder of Uncompahgre Peak.
Lyngve on the summit of Uncompahgre Peak (4361m). It was very exposed on top of this rock, due to a 250m near vertical drop down the huge northface.

The 250 metres high and near vertical northface of Uncompahgre
On the return I had to ascend 100 metres in order to reach the pass southeast of Matterhorn Peak
My last pic of Wetterhorn on this beautiful day
