My car at the Silver Creek-Grizly Gulch Trailhead (3170m)
Everything in this creek seemed to be a bit redish..
Halfway to Redcloud I met these nice ptarmigans
And they were not afraid of me at all...
So close that I almost could touch them.
Ptarmigans everywhere. I saw more than 20 of them this day.
I have reached the pass, where I easily could see the remaining trail to Redcloud Peak
I'm only 10-15 minutes below the summit. From here I had splendid views in all directions, especially to the north where Wetterhorn (left) and Uncompahgre (right) dominates the horizon.
The red sand and rocks on the very summit of Redcloud Peak (4278m). The ridge continues to Sunshine Peak further in the background.
Almost the same picture as the previous, but now with a funny guy in the middle of it.
The easy traverse between Redcloud and Sunshine Peak
On the summit of Sunshine Peak (4268m), looking down on Sundog, which is a ranked 13'er.
An old and exhausted dog on the summit of Sunshine Peak
The dog and its owners on the summit of Sunshine Peak. Redcloud Peak can be seen at the far end of the ridge.
Aiming for the class 2+ ridge on Sundog
Loose rocks everywhere
Not far away from the summit of Sundog
Finally on the summit of Sundog (4094m), which was my fourth summit this day. Sunshine Peak can be seen in the background
Well below the tree-line in Silver Creek. Sundog in the background.
