Carnival Cruise - March 15, 2010 - Progreso
Dune Buggy Exploration & Beach
Hop into your customized VW Dune Buggy convertible and follow the caravan as you make your way into the Mayan savannah and the ruins of Xcambo.
Built over 2,000 years ago to control the production of salt, Xcambo was an important city in the Mayan trade route.
You’ll have an opportunity to explore the ruins and see untouched sites, fully restored pyramids and buildings still under reconstruction while your guide shares the history of the region.
Continue your drive through the Yucatan peninsula’s countryside en route to the Reef Club Beach Resort where you will have free time to relax on the beach, swim in the pool, or play beach volleyball.
Enjoy a snack buffet at the resort before climbing back into your dune buggy for the drive into town.
Once in town, you’ll leave your buggy at the designated location and walk three blocks to the marketplace.
