Rutland Round

These were taken on the first 13mile leg of Steve & Patrick's Rutland Round walk from Oakham to Uppingham. (We were hoping to complete the whole 65 mile walk over five days, but had to abandon after the first full day owing to Steve's chest infection). Some shots at the end from the north over Rutland Water taken on the way home

Best of Up North

Bempton Cliffs etc

Photos taken whilst on holiday at Wold Farm, Flamborough. Mostly just taken between Bempton Cliffs and Flamborough Head plus the farm itself with a few shots from the Humber Bridge on the return journey. A wonderful place to see puffins, guillemots, razor bills, kittiwakes, fulmars and gannets. Most were taken using my new Fuji HS10 a great camera with a 24mm x30 zoom lens including some sweep panoramic shots, and a few at the end digiscoped using a Nikon scope and camera. Peter Scott Walk 2010

The Peter Scott Walk extends from the Lighthouse on the east bank at the mouth of the River Nene along the south bank of The Wash then down the west bank of the River Ouse to West Lynn - a distance of 10.5 miles. We caught the bus to Sutton Bridge, so we had to walk the 3 miles straight out along the bank of the Nene first to join the start of the walk. Not a great deal of variation in scenery for much of the way, but a lot of peace and solitude, apart from the odd herd of cows blocking our path!

Suffolk - Mostly in and around Minsmere

All of these were taken with the new Fuji HS10, many at full 30x 720mm zoom. (The last 6 photos were taken whilst seated at breakfast looking out of our dining room window.). These photos have not been processed or cropped since leaving the camera and are in their original 3648 x 2736 pixel (10mp) form, though the Picasa website will have reduced them to 1600 x 1200.

Cozumel 2009

These are photos taken between 22nd January and 5th February 2009 during my visit to my brother and his wife on the Mexican Caribbean Island of Cozumel. They were tied up with their teaching work so I had ample time to take myself off on cycling trips around the island to watch wildlife and in particular birds whenever possible. Our morning cycle rides and swims at Playa Azul were a great pleasure too

Digiscope 1

This is my first attempt at digiscoping. Alright some of them aren't quite in focus, but I haven't tweaked them in any way, neither have they been cropped. The last two shots are movies. I used a Nikon Coolpix P5100 on a Nikon EDIIIA scope with DS 24x eyepiece. The camera was on 3x zoom so all in all I guess its around 60x.

Northumberland 2008

Photos taken during our camping trip to Northumberland 17-23 June 2008. We stayed at Beachcomber Camsite, Goswick Sands from where we were able to walk across to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne and alon the coast to Berwick-upon-Tweed. We also had a day trip to the Farnes from Seahouses.

A beautifully desolate walk starting from Sutton Bridge (Licolnshire) along the bank of the River Nene, along the sea wall at the South of the Wash to the bank of the Great Ouse and down to the West Lynn Ferry.
