City Hall
Town Hall
Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion
Red Garden, the foodcourt where I had dinner on the first night.
My Egg Briyani.
Fort Cornwallis, later in the afternoon.
Fort Cornwallis has cannons.
And bananas.
For some reason there was a mast and a lighthouse beside Fort Cornwallis, in a fenced off area.
Queen Victoria Memorial Clock Tower, as seen from Fort Cornwallis.
I have no idea why these were in one of the rooms in the wall of the fort.
The fort's chapel.
An interesting sculpture beside the Victoria Clock Tower.
Some building.
Church Street Pier, I think.
One of the clan jetties. All these houses and shops are built above the water.
Another clan jetty in the distance.
Looking back towards land.
Directions on the jetty.
A blacksmith at work.
Cheah Kongsi clan temple.
There were a couple having their wedding photographs taken there, so I did not go too close.
Khoo Kongsi, I think.
Another temple.
The tower of Lebuh Acheh Mosque.
Seyed Al-Attas Mansion.
A tower near the entrance of Kapitan Keling Mosque.
More of Kapitan Keling Mosque.
Inside the grounds of the mosque.
The Cathedral of the Assumption.
Another angle of the Cathedral of the Assumption.
The satay stall where I had dinner. At this one you cook your satay sticks in boiling water, then dip them in your choice of sauce.
Pancake, pineapple tart and apple juice for dessert.
Behind the food stalls, from where I sat to eat my dessert.
There were lots of cars driving past, not to mention all the motorbikes.
Dragonfruit juice.
We ate dinner down by the waterfront. There was lots of lightning, though I did not manage to photograph it.
A nicely lit statue on the way back from dinner.
This cat found us while we were waiting for tea and dessert. It seemed to like my backpack.
Panned green tea chocolate.
Different cocoa products, and stages of the process.
A nice flower by the roadside.
There were lots of monkeys at the Botanic Gardens.
Especially once another tourist started feeding them.
There was an enormous line of ants.
Some of the many steps up to Bukit Penang and/or the waterfall, from the Botanic Gardens. I got perhaps halfway up the hill before I had to turn back so as not to miss the last bus, and sadly never did find the waterfall.
Rest area partway up the hill.
More of the rest area.
Path near the rest area. I thought it rather nice.
The view down towards the city.
