A snowman near Zoologischer Garten on Sunday morning, before we started our city tour.
Thi liked the snowman.
A theatre, perhaps?
An odd sculpture.
Another odd sculpture, still near Zoo.
Alte National-galerie, as we looked around after the end of the tour.
Neues Museum. We decided not to go in, but instead to go to the German History Museum, also nearby.
Nice lights, on the way to the Alexanderplatz Christmas market after visiting the Museum of German History.
Looking towards Alexanderplatz.
Another Christmas market we stopped by briefly on the way to the Alexanderplatz one we had been recommended. I think this one was in Schloßplatz, or somewhere nearby.
Ferris wheel at Alexanderplatz.
I am not sure what this building is. It looked nice though.
At the Christmas market.
Currywurst to snack on at the Christmas Market.
Organ-grinder (I think? or whatever they are called) and singer.
People ice skating around in a circle.
That ferris wheel again, looking over the ice skating rink.
A nativity scene.
Playing Christmas music.
Need large clothes? Note also the McDonalds on the right (though it is not that clearly visible in this photo).
The pub where we ate dinner.
My dinner.
Thi's dinner was larger than it looks in this photo.
Me with my dinner.
These hanging ornaments looked really cool. They consisted of concentric shapes rotated a bit at each level, so that as they spin the part catching the light changes and it appears like a star (or circle or whatever the shape is) repeatedly expanding or shrinking.
One of many Taverns selling drinks at the Christmas Market.
A mini train for kids.
Thi liked the train.
Interestingly-patterned stars.
A nice shot Thi took of the ferris wheel.
Ponies being led very slowly in a circle while carrying small children.
Interesting graffiti at the U-bahnhof on the way back.
More interesting graffiti.
Walking in Tiergarten on Monday morning.
We made a snowman, of sorts.
Thi holding the snowman's hand.
He is rather short.
Leaving the snowman behind.
A church in Tiergarten.
The Siegessäule (Victory Column) in the middle of Tiergarten was under repair, unfortunately.
We found a playground, covered in snow. We tried the swings and I tried the flying fox.
After Thi left on the train back to Poland, I went out to Frankfurter Tor to begin wandering around the parts of the city I had not yet seen. This is the north half of Frankfurter Tor.
And this is the south half, looking much the same.
Ampelmann walks.
Stop!
A walking sausage sizzle.
A bridge parallel to Warschauer Straße, carrying the U-bahn across the river.
Part of the Berlin Wall still standing along Mühlenstraße now has many different panels of graffiti art.
Some more of the wall.
Looking down the wall.
Another panel of the wall.
The other side, by the river.
Looking up the river.
A gate in the wall.
Detour to Japan?
I thought this church looked quite nice.
Looking across a frozen pond at Michaelkirchplatz.
Down by the river at Böcklerpark.
A cathedral?
Wikileaks t-shirt.
Sliding down a mound of icy snow in a tire tube, at the Potsdamer Platz Christmas market. It looked fun, but very brief. And nobody was doing the track on the right with the jump.
Lights in the Sony Centre.
The roof of the Sony Centre.
Outside the Legoland centre.
More Lego (actually, mostly Duplo).
A nutcracker man in the middle of the street.
A colour-changing cone, in the midst of the market.
A larger advent calendar than I had seen before.
Nice Christmas tree.
All the shops along this street had small boxes out in the middle of the footpath to display what they were selling. It seems like a good idea.
The Elephant Gate of the zoo.
A better view of the elephants.
