Dodecatheon pulchellum; at this time i was still looking to find more sites for this species, so I was happy to see this one on this road, just across the fence in the next pic..

a classic clear view of a low damp area (which could have been a shallow lake in the past; these often round depressions are common remnants here from glaciation) certainly grazed, possibly even hayed occasionally, or the woody growth would extend much further; nonetheless, you see the woody growth increases at the far edge as the ground rises, leading to a forested area behind..
Dodecatheon pulchellum; fortunately that single plant was not the only one i found, and just a little farther i found a large colony probably at least a quarter mile long, perhaps 50- 100 metres deep in a damp grassy area bordering mixed woods; again, an area that must be grazed at least part of the year..
Zizia aptera;this turned out to be a good site for other species, as well-this was the first time i'd encountered this species, though later i found it again..
Sisyrinchium montanum; a widespread and fairly common local sp that appears in many habitats, as long as its reasonably open..
Polygonum viviparum; another fairly common plant in low-lying open areas; it appears also on the edge of woods, but seems not to flower if the area has become too overgrown/shady.
Erigeron sp; there are several of these med-tall species around, usually in seasonally/dampish grassy areas; i've adjusted these a bit, but probably just a touch pinker than the camera shows..
