Dodecatheon June 18, 2014
I was out for a bike ride, June 18, and was debating whether to go to some place I knew to be good for wildflowers, or try for a new direction. I opted for the latter, but then decided I didn't trust my bike tire that far! so I settled for a known spot only 5-6 miles from home (another album). On the way back, I was thrilled to find this colony of Dodecatheon pulchellum, the closest to home I've yet found, just slightly over 2 miles. Not the largest, most floriferous patch I've seen, but I was happy to find them as I haven't got out to see any this year, and probably wont now, since the season must be nearly over and my bike tire has bit it... lots of young plants at this site, so barring road work to mess up the ditch (no guarantees at all, lots of unnecessary road work around here) should just get better...
