An ad for some company that's apparently quite popular.
Looks like the Tyrell Corporation building in Blade Runner.
An elementary school. Wish mine had such a cool building.
Taipei 101: World's tallest building (until that one in Dubai is finished)
Sun Yat-Sen memorial hall
I got there just as they were changing the guards.
The picture does not adequately show how huge this statue of Sun Yat-Sen is.
Apparently Dr. Sun Yat-Sen was also a mean breakdancer.
Tapei 101 up close and personal.
Views from Taipei 101. Unlike the regular tourists who have to make do with the observation deck, I got to see these views from the Google office on the 73rd floor!
Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall again, from far, far above.
The gate at National Taiwan Democracy Monument (AKA Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall)
The CKS Memorial.
They use the giant plaza outside the Memorial Hall for rehearsing military drills, high school dance groups and so on.
Chiang Kai-Shek. One of the few remaining statues of him they haven't taken down yet.
He's pretty smiley for a ruthless dictator.
Part of the CKS exhibit at the Memorial Hall, where they present an alternative version of history in which he single-handedly defeated the Japanese empire and brought peace, freedom and prosperity to the Republic of China. Oh, and Maoism never happened.
Unicyclists also using the plaza to practice on.
And karate kids.
Xinmending - the crazy shopping district.
Tien-Ho temple, right in the heart of Xinmending.
The Red Pavilion theater.
