"A love story with chores?" "Just work with me - it will all fit together."
"There were four women, four lives changed by love found at a common well."
"In a small town called Nahor, there lived a young lady named Rebekah..."
The scene shifts to a well
"Oh! You should have seen him! Such a dream!"
"I have enough to do without chasing men."
"I bet you were serving guests when you should be partying with me."
"If we don't marry soon, we'll become old maids and simply wither away and DIE."
"Someday a dashing young man will take once glance and fall desperately in love!"
"Oh! Do tell! Who is he?"
The prospect is so exciting!
Meanwhile, other girls come to the well to fill their jars
Naamah's sister looks on
"So, what's this girl gonna look like?"
"Who's talkin' 'bout taste? You close 'nuff killed ol' Eliezer and me with whatever you put in that 'goat surprise' of yours last night."
"You sound like your describing cows."
"...and he probably has a foreign friend or two."
"It's a piece of junk!"
"So why we goin' to foreign parts to find this girl?"
"Look, Eliezer - we made you a sign! She couldn't possibly resist this!"
After Atarah drives Naamah away, Atarah's "groupies" fill their jars
"How 'bout I put our sign right here, next to the well..."
Oh Yahweh, God of my master Abraham, give me success today and show kindness to my master."
"...and the daughters of the town are coming out to draw water..."
"Look, Rebekah - a foreign man!"
Rebekah quickly goes to draw water for the camels
"What IS she doing?"
"No one's that kind. You don't offer to water ten camels without some ulterior motive."
"I insist. Here, let's see how they look."
"Praise be to Yahweh, the God of my master Abraham..."
"Come, come, you who are blessed by Yahweh! But why are you standing out here?"
"My master was sure that Yahweh would make my journey successful."
"I am, Laban. I will go."
"It's - it's hard. But I know this is what Yahweh has for me."
"I just knew it!"
Naamah can't believe that Rebekah is leaving to marry someone she's never met...
"Hi ya, Rachel!"
"Perfect! Well, almost..."
"It's them youngin's who need me crook!"
"I'm sure Elam means no harm, Shimei."
"'Course some young scoundrel will come and take you away from us soon enuf."
"He'd have to be pretty breathtaking to convince me to leave my fields!"
The shepherds listen as Rachel and Shimei talk
Elam's a little disgruntled from being reprimanded
"Them young whippersnappers don't do a good job lessen I'm on their tail every blessed minute!"
"But if you can teach me, you can teach anyone."
"I had the sheep settled in the high pasture, when I sees a wolf slinkin' along the far side of the field!"
"A hungry, mean ol' thing with one ragged early nearly torn off!"
"For fear of the 'whirling lamb avenger!'"
"And who gets sent to find Papa's LATE 'little lamb'? Me."
"I don't recall you ever wanting to work in the fields."
The next day, the shepherds are waiting for the sheep to be gathered so they can water their flocks
Jacob shows up, and when he sees Rachel, rolls the stone away for her.
"My lady, let me water your sheep."
"Sir, you have nothing to draw water with, and the well is deep."
"Don't you talk to that young scoundrel, Rachel."
"Oh Shimei, he doesn't seem that harmful."
"Humph. You can't be too careful." "Oh."
"Where have you come from, and why are you even here?"
"I didn't lie this time, honest!"
"My mother is quite well and sends her love to her dear brother."
"He should have stayed in Beersheba."
"And you had to flee for life?"
"I do, Rachel. Trust me, I do."
"Uh oh. I was supposed to help with the wash, and here's Leah come to fetch me."
"Seven years for Rachel? Well..."
"I'm so happy!"
"You're still young..."
"There'll be plenty of time for changin' your mind."
"Just think... Aunt Rebekah's love story began at a well, and now so has mine!"
"So it's come to this, has it?"
"But I don't like loosing you to some young scoundrel..."
"I've missed you too. I'll be out to visit you soon."
"Besides, if I stay among the tents too long, I'll get bitter and boring."
"Let's see... all I heard was 'baa!'"
"You were probably lost in your silly daydreams again."
"Girls, no tag today. It makes the sheep nervous."
"Ooo! Can I come with you, Saphie?"
"But Saph, a steady stream of guests would bring a flood of chores."
"Ah!!!"
The girls get chased off so some mean shepherds can water their own sheep.
The shepherds prod invisible sheep along... Sound effects definitely helped. :)
"Much obliged for the water, yous dames."
"She looks like the runt of the litter!"
"This little runt could be real entertaining!"
"Yeah, I'm zonked."
"Wait... so who's cooking?"
"Afternoon, ladies" *mocking laughter*
"They're just so exaspertating!"
"Don't cry, Ruby." - "But they'll be back tomorrow!"
"Ezer was right. Papa will worry if we're not home soon."
"Now what?"
"One, two, three, four..."
"Seven girls??"
"Form a jar brigade! If this works, we'll be gone long before Ezer shows up for his 'free' water."
The guard gets tired...
"Ahhh!"
"That's it!"
"Not so fast, Gemma!"
"Let me go!"
"I told you all to be quiet!"
"Now yous all just play nice..."
"Or else..."
"Or else... what?"
Moses fights off the bad shepherds
One by one..
The big guy goes charging off
He got laughs every night!
Moses finally defeats Ezer
"And don't come back!"
"Wow!"
"And he gave those big bad men a beating!"
"He lost his turban too. Looks kind of fancy for such a bumbling fool."
"Ooo! Zipporah! You better be careful! He might come back and sweep - no, make that KNOCK you off your feet!"
Rubalia finds his "necklace" and decides to try it on
The girls give Moses his various costume pieces back
"So, who are you?"
The sisters line up to introduce themselves to Moses
"But one day, I'll be older than Zippy, and then I'll beat off those nasty shepherds like you did, Mister!"
There, that's better... ;)
"Can you teach me how to fight?"
"A prince?"
"Well, at least, I, uh, was."
"He IS a prince, Saphie!"
"WHAT?"
"It's uh, hard to-to explain."
"If a husband for me just shows up by this well, I'm sure one will come your way in good time."
"Staff's in one piece." - "Check!" - "Tunic's not ripped." - "Check!"
Yay!
"You've been a good sister."
The girls reluctantly draw water to let Moses rest
"I do think you're bound for something great, Moses."
Fighting with the water jars...
"Good work, girls! It looks like the troughs are full!"
Shifting scenes again, we move on to Sychar, in Samaria
"Not likely, not with a wife like that. Bless his soul..."
While Meira and Rina gossip, other ladies fill their jars
Girls play a clapping game
Boys have target practice
A man helps the boys aim
Younger boys play with a top... it's the little things, to add to the environment
And of course, more drawing water!
"Right you are. This here well's gonna make history - just you wait and see!"
"Well, she's had FIVE husbands!"
"And now she has a man that's not her husband, if you know what I mean..."
Unwilling to be drawn into gossip, the newcomer goes to draw water
Tamara sits apart from the others, feeling the sting of their words
"I'm beyond help."
"There's something I need in a man."
"But whoever drinks the water I give him will never be thirsty again."
"Go, call your husband and come back"
"Sir, I can see that you are a prophet..."
"Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth."
"What was that woman doing here?"
"I don't know. Rabbi, eat something."
"Master, we want to hear what you have to say..."
"Come, all you who are thirsty. Come, drink of the water of life."
"The taste of excitement makes the ordinary plain."
"Won't you be 'tainted' by my presence?"
"Will you forgive us?"
"Jesus was willing to forgive me of so much."
"She who has been forgiven much, loves much."
"Yes, but I never thought this well would be right place!"
"Well, you know what they say: 'All's well that ends well!'
"You'd never find her story in a fairy tale..."
"She was unlike the other women at the well."
"You'll never thirst again..."
"Her life was full of pain, hurt, rejection, and loneliness she didn't want to show."
"Drink from this water..."
"But I'm here to tell you there's a place your thirst is quenched forevermore!"
"And you will never..."
"And you'll never..."
"Jesus will meet you at the place of every need!"
"You'll never thirst..."
"...again."
