On the Road - SR 710
Canal in waterfront community -- Lake Okeechobee was at record low when this was taken, and had been for a couple of years. Seriously degraded the property values in the surrounding fishing communities of retirees.
Boathouses
Big Grassy Water
Perimeter canal
Somewhere in the Lake Placid area
Left side of “Captain Webb” mural, Lake Placid -- my father got his name from early days on the Great Lakes, and was a founding resident of Lake Placid.
Right side of mural. That's Mom in the T -- They operated the only gas station between Sebring and West Palm Beach, and went on to found the caladium-growing industry in Lake Placid.
On the Wauchula road out of Sebring
Charley Creek, near Zolfo Springs
Interesting juxtaposition of buildings, Wauchula
Big sky, somewhere in Polk County
Major field of thistles in Green Swamp, western Polk County. Some were 10' tall.
Makin' little thistles
Some guy named Kim started building this shrine in Webster, FL, in the middle of the Green Swamp. The land's now for sale. I stopped to recite a sutra.
Buddhists don't seem to be thick on the ground in Webster. Pity.
Heading into Floral City, FL from the east (SR 48 out of Wahoo)
The road to Ozello, FL
Salt Marsh with fair weather cumulus and contrail cirrus (major jet route to the NW)
Close - Wonder if this guy owns a J3 Cub? Coincidences in license plates fascinate me.
Little Grass Shack in Suwannee, FL (elev. 3 feet)
The End of the Road -- next one's in the Yucatan (Suwannee, FL)
Condos, delta style
Suwannee is built on the Suwanee, and on Denial. Buying a condo built on mud, 3 feet above sea level and at the mouth of a large river about a mile from the Gulf of Mexico is -- well -- problematic.
Typical back yard in Suwannee
A boat in every garage
I assume this was about high tide. If not...

The cafe in Keaton Beach, another end-of-the-road experience with rather less charm than Suwannee
Steinhatchee
Salt Creek Seafood Company and Restaurant, Suwannee, where Gloria and I had lunch (fried mullet and hushpuppies!)
Cound be the Cascades...but it's Suwannee again
Water Tank House
Passion Flower
The pump is pumping from another sinkhole in the middle of the big sinkhole. Sorta scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Bike, rain, drunk in pick-up: Barney's Memorial (Ted's riding buddy)
Goddaughter and niece Lynne (CB handle “Southern Lace”) is real proud of her Tiburon. She's been a long-distance trucker for nearly 20 years.
