Hot Springs Tower
HS Overlook
3rd greates president of all time
Water Jug Fill Up - Hot water coming from the mountains. The water fell as rain 4000 years ago, spent forever seeping into the center of the planet where it was heated to a boil and forced up to the surface...it took 200 years for it to move back up to the surface and emerge at 147 degrees and perfectly pure like it was when it fell as rain 4000 years ago

Another
This is the one I had my spa at.
This is the first picture I took after heading off on the gravel path called the Scenic Auto Route
Nice View...the gravel is getting you dirty Pre
Layers of hills
The first spot on the drive (about 25 miles in) where there was an actual and signed scenic overlook.
The gravel leads to a lot of ultra fine dust or silt or sand - ROADTRIP 2007
Scenic ROADTRIP 2007
Closeup ROADTRIP 2007
I checked the bumber about a mile later, and it was again just a heap of sand
Road ahead...down hill...I though I was heading to the end of the side trip, but it went on forever
Another pullover about 20 mile further - dang this is a lot of tough driving for snippets.
OK, this one was pretty. nice lakes
another few miles and a closer view of the pretty lakes
This was on a half mile hike to a peak.
The hike had a few nice views
Ahh a real sign of a vista point finally
pretty nice vista - beginning to appreciate this interesting gravel drive
nice
Tried to get a picture of the dust I am continually kicking up...I know for a fact that I am the only one in tons of miles because I don't see dust rising off in any distance but from me.
guess I'm not going to the lake as it slips further away
Armadeado
After the gravel finally ended, and it was great, I went to Petit Jean Park whch had another mess of good stuff. It was on my way back to the original sceinc route.
Petite Jean's theoretical gravesite
The crossdressers legend
The whole area seems to be named agfter this Petite Jean, as well as this arc in the river. I later had a dinner called Petite Jean Ham Steak
pretty river elbow
Grove of oaks? I think
Pond with rowboat...other people!
Pond and Pads
Waterfall to the right of the natural ampitheater...low water, it could have been much more impressive
Water trickle actually
A rock I liked
After that, just a ton of other scenic views in a row
I like the sense of humor.
Dam
Good old fashioned tran stop ahead
And looks like HS two a days
myville
And after all that, this is the sign that describes the rest of the scenic drive...it should have read “Crooked and step Next 63 miles as well as the previous 100 miles. Continue driving with care”
just more scenery
I don't know what this is and I didn't want to wake him
Hey, my 14th pond, might as well take a picture of one of them. All pretty.
beginning to get late, I must stop soon...ooh, just down the road a restaurant.
and a lodge
And now my room for the night
my porch view
my porch
other side of porch
finches in black and yellow - also a ton of humming birds that I failed to photo
I now honor this brown pole as my god...it told me so.
Coffee and a view - after the peach cobbler a la mode for desert near sundown
just another perfect view in AR
Missed the humming bird by that much
getting tired AR, thanks
Good night Arkansas, Awesome!
