Awww
Cabin Lake Campground, our first morning. There is no cabin, nor lake here.
Chase
Zombie Hawk
Steve explaining to us his dismay at seeing great white things out in front of him as he walks while wearing sandals. He just got a pair chacos, his first in fact.
Large poplars at Seven Mile Camp, Oregon. This was our second day and we got eaten alive my mosquitoes. These are big trees but it's hard to tell from the photo.
Blake and Oli relaxing at the creek at Seven Mile.
Danner in despair at all the cattle on public land. Deep Creek Campground, near Lakeview, OR
Some music at Deep Creek
One of many silly van pictures.
Good picture buddy.
The valley we climbed out of after Adel and heading into Nevada. The road was about a 15% grade and a bit scary.
Steve got a flat tire on the way into Badger Cabin, Sheldon Antelope NWR. Later we learned from Aaron that some rednecks who he had, had a disagreement with, "peppered" the road with screws and nails on their way out of the area.
Sarah seems at bit too joyous at the flat tire.
Badger Cabin, where Aaron and part of his crew worked and lived out of for their field season. We helped work on the building by aiding in the stucco work.
Aaron's pop top was awesome and deserved a picture.
The valley Badger Cabin lay in. The small white dots were Steve and Kort's tent and the banding tent.
There was a lot of water in the area (for there) which was great, we had cold running water the whole time, and a trough to sit in or wash in.
Zack hanging out at the top of the hill behind camp.
Taking photos.
Enjoying the top of the hill.
More landscape around Badger.
It was pretty damn nice out there.
Sarah looks pissed but I am certain she couldn't have been out there.
Needed to add my creepy self to the scene.
Danner and Piojo (who we had to carry down the cliff when we came back)
The Sun rose while we where up there.
Sarah looking the badass she is.
Yeah..
Kari and Eric enjoying the pleasure of waiting for a bird the hit Net 1.
Blue Sky.
I like my shadow.

Erin sleeping. He caught me taking the picture.
The view from the cabin.
Behind the cabin (the hill we climbed several times).
Hatch Year Male Red-winged Blackbird.
Headshot.
Simone pointing out molt.
I remember this bird had some well defined stress bars in it's tail.
Amber and her new friend.
What a great guy.
A Western Scrub-Jay....I have no idea if we determined it's subspecies in full effect. I personally felt it was Supercilliea but the second bird we got was more inline with Woodhousei...most confusing.
Amber the Chipmunk.
The Trough.
Some regulars at the waterhole.
We kept our beverages cold there too.
Simone going after something. Probably some weird bug for her to munch on.
Simone acting the fool.
The start of a great Chaco Tan. Zorro worked over my feet.
Thrilled.
Relaxing, waiting for a bird.
Eden got one! Net four prevails!
Walking to a burn Aaron was studying. A big Mountain Mahogany stand burn here.
Some burn Mahogany.
The Stand
Oliver looking far too serious.
My first picture of Robinson Draw, Hart Mountain Antelope NWR was of a praying mantis. Sometimes I wish I knew insects better so I could ID them.
Piojo was a bit tired.
And really adorable.
That a devil could be housed within that cute exterior is beyond me.
We took a hike one afternoon. I stayed behind my loud fellows to enjoy this landscape.
A storm was a brewin.
Don't go out there Colin!
Eric with a Pygmy Nuthatch at Willow 3 Net.
Our little friend.
Thema under the banding table.
At her master's feet.
Sometimes my nap didn't come as easily as I had hoped.
Dirty feet.
I seem to catch people sleeping a lot.
A Olive-sided Flycatcher that for some reason was called on the radio as a Western Kingbird. But it was awesome either way.
The view from the hill at Big Sky
A mature Mountain Mahogany
Meghan and Blake enjoying the tree.
Techner liked em too.
We climbed higher still. We were a bit late getting back.
What an amazing view it was.
Behind us.
To our right.
Refreshments were in order.
There was this huge face with lichen all over it.
it was probably four feet tall and eight feet wide.
this interesting red lichen growing in the air bubbles of the igneous rock.
Techner found us a little friend as we were leaving. A Horny Toad. I wanted him to squirt blood out of his eyes at me. But he didn't the little turd.
Saskia liked him.
DIRTY FEET!
This was the representation of people with dirty feet. Most of us hadn't showered for at least a week too!
Erin was sleeping on the job.
but he woke eventually.
And threatened me that if I told on him he'd feed me to the monsters that lived nearby.
Simone looking rather regal.
Jo chillin out at Spring Trail Net.
Sarah doing the same.
Sweet clouds.
The summit of the hill we were required to climb on our big hike.
View down the hill.
Erin and this wooden wrench.
A pretty composite.
The plain we walked across, with low Sage. Which sucks to walk through.
But it was really awesome still.
The other side of Hart, looking off the block into the lakes beyond.
Jo - look at the camera!
Thanks.
We were going to hike down to that elevation. It was a bit of a trek still.
Blake eating lunch.
Oli and Amber.
Simone and her vegan food.
more Plains walking.
Those three dots are a Bull, Cow, and Calf.
We found another friend. (S)He was much smaller and also didn't squirt blood at us.
I want some gore!
Really tiny - I have no idea how anyone spotted him or her.
Poorly taken photo but very pretty regardless.
What are these things called again?
Our little buddy looked like he belonged there.
Very strange to come upon in the middle of nowhere.
Quite Happy.
On we go.
Through the Sage.
And down there.
Here we go.
I lagged behind taking photos.
Thats a little steep. Look at those Pronghorns!
The Line.
There's some more antelope out there on that ridge.
You can do it!
Danner looking ridiculous.
Getting closer.
Heather and Jo collecting sage.
Simone got some too.
We got to the bottom and the Ponderosa shade.
Erin chillaxin'.
Those great fellows gave us much need shade to rest in.
We didn't bring enough food.
Doesn't look at steep from here.
Aww. Hippie love.
I can't stop taking pictures of my little buddy.
He makes the silliest of faces.
Before we headed off again.
I don't know how he always finds this stuff.
The valley walls around us as we kept going down.
What a beaut.
We are going down there.
Yeah!
Hey up there.
Is that Kestrel Boy? No no, that's just Danner making fun of him.
The waterfall, though low, was nice to sit by while we waited for Steve and Kort to pick us up.
Oli going to get his hair wet in it.
Steph seemed very interested in that food.
Some underwater Lichen.
Kieger Gultch, on Steen's Mountain. (is that right?

And there were tons of raptors to look at too.
Steve even got out his camera.

I wish I had a picture of the cleft on the right.
Very strange.
Being creepy in the van. Blake caught on.
Simone writing.
Zack did too.
You can see that circle very clearly on google maps by the Steens.
Meghan seems to find the place to make me nervous by sitting or standing near the edge.
The Alvord desert. I think I mangle the name but you all know what I mean.
Danner and his machine of madness.
The alvord.
The last night at the Steens
Very nice, very nice.
Stormy clouds.
Very stormy.
I seemed to like this tree.
Great Light.
Danner and Oli enjoying the top of Danner Amazing Autobus.
Beverages, Sunsets, Friends. Couldn't be much better.
Oooh and birds are good too!
Saskia joined them up therre.
Erin danced a dance like no other.
And kept going.
Zack joined him.
And Going.
I took so many. But they were so amazing.
Amber? Simone? Who!?
The lost shot of the trip, I didn't take.
