Atlanta - home of Delta - which we love!
The Retiro area, downtown. Not too far from our hotel. And, though we did not know it at the time, the ship will be off to the right about 1 mile
Same
The pink house - President's home - Eva Peron's balcony
Park near Retiro
La Bocca area
The amazing flower - supposedly opens and closes with the sun
Eva Peron's monument
Florida street in downtown
More interesting architecture there
And more
Montevideo - from the balcony of our tour guide.
Park in downtown
But then, parts of the city are a little rough. This is near the port.
Museum to Mardi Gras
In front of the port area
Stanley, the Falklands - from the tender boat
Penguin colony nearby
Rough terrain - and note the marked off area - unexploded landmines!
Beautiful shorelines.
Ship looks somewhat weird in this small channel, so it seems.
One of the two churches - whale jawbones were used to create the design out front
Their golf course
The rough terrain caused by the glaciers
Along main street
Lovely gardens
Into the Beagle Channel
The town of Ushuaia, where we were supposed to stop - weather was too rough to go to the dock.
Back into the Beagle Channel
Still crusing along the Beagle Channel (or related waterways)
Punta Arenas, Chile
Town centre
The carport of a home on main street
Main street - not too much there.
The inside of the church.
The handicraft market in the town centre
Next day, out in the Darwin Channel
Sorry about the number of pics - but they are so lovely.
Coming on to the bay where we find the biggest glacier
Closer in - and note the mini-iceberg chunks in the water
Quite narrow passages at times - especially when we are drawing a fair bit of draught
Now we've been out into the Pacific, and are back into the set of Fjords along the coast
Note the salmon farm being pulled along to a new location - lots of these along here.
The port of Puerto Montt, visiting the town of Frutillar
Major German background here.
This beach is evidently VERY popular - and cottages/homes are very expensive as a result. Summer has just ended.
The Osorno volcano in the background
I really would love this piece of property.
The rapids/falls of Petrohue
Main Street, Puerto Montt.
The ship at anchor.
Sailing away. Note the three peaks, one of which is Osorno, It was said that few people get to see this area when the weather is so clear.
Lovely sunset - it took less than 5 secs for the sun to go from ball to gone.
Waking up in Valparaiso port. Old and has some very poor areas.
The elevators on the hillside.
Very large outdoor market, for all manner of cheaper stuff
Poor areas, hanging on the hillsides.
Church along the highway to Santiago
Vineyard - lots of them in this area.
Clusters of house in valleys - lots of these communities.
Very poor area, going into Santiago
Modern and beautiful downtown Santiago
Note the tunnel on the right - passes under the old centre town, a distance of at least 5-10 miles.
Very nice park in centre town.
Pool area at the Sheraton
Highway to the left, waterway to the right.
