Flathead Ford V-8 21 Stud

This is a 1/48th scale model of a Flathead Ford engine. Its all made out of brass. 21 Stud flathead engines were made from 1932 to about 1938, and then they went to a 24 stud, and also changed the water pump. This little engine will eventually go in a '36 Ford Cab-over Truck that I will build at a later date. '36 Ford Cab-over trucks were not factory built by Ford, but were modified by a company called Transportation Engineering using Ford parts

About Danny

This is a profile about me, the brass and copper models I make and the process I use for making them. I have a very supportive wife and family. I have been doing models for over 40 years. My wife participates happily in alley cruising as I look for subjects to model, then helps pull the dimensions after I've gotten permission from the owner. Sometimes there is no vehicle out there to measure and I have to pull the information entirely from literature. In the worst case scenario I have to rely totally on a single picture.

Biederman Truck Crane 1945 (Under Construction)

This model is in 1/48th scale, built out of copper and brass. It is a 1945 Biederman P1 with a Michigan TM16 crane. There were only 300 of these built towards the end of WWII. The majority of these cranes were sent overseas. This model is still under construction.

1949 Austin Western Model 40 (Under Construction)

Scratch built out of brass and copper 1/48th scale. Started this model on Dec 19, 2009. Pieces shown are the rear hopper cover. The floorboard has been added and the cavity has cut for seat. Added with temporary fit is cowl, hood and wheels. Just finished louvers and grill. Got it up on its wheels, started detailing dash with instruments, hydraulic levers and hand brake. Dash and floorboard are done. Ready to start detailing side broom. Watch for more photos later.

1937 White Conventional with Streamlined Trailer (Under Construction)

Scratch built from brass and copper 1/48th scale. Next model that I'm working on.I started this model about three years ago and it's time to finish it. Starting in the mid 30's it was not uncommon for trucks to be streamlined. This has a slant back trailer with skirts on both tractor and trailer. It has a '37 White six cylinder engine. My little engine has 57 pieces. Working on trailer first trying to get it done before I finish the tractor. More photos and updates later.

1942 Hobart weldmobile

Scratch-built from brass and copper at 1/48th scale (1/4 inch to the foot).. It is a portable welder used at a construction site, and was driven to work areas as needed. They were made from the late '30's up into the '60's by the Hobart company. Shown is the engine which is a Chrysler straight 8 industrial engine and temporary mock-up with current pieces. On the palm of my hand are the most recent parts made; the gear-shift, horn, hand brake, steering wheel and column and a fire extinguisher. The pin on the fire extinguisher and horn will allow me to attach these parts later. Most recent pictures show the steering wheel, hand brake, gearshift and hood added to the model. Also included is a picture of the real weldmobile that started it all. Added spotlight, tail light and fire extinguisher. Finished December 2009.

1940 Austin Western Model 50 Street Sweeper

This model was scratch-built from copper and brass in 1/48th scale (1/4 inch to the foot). It has 327 individual pieces. I make my own scale drawings, and hand form metal pieces on bucks made from the drawings. Examples of bucks are shown in other albums on my site. The brooms on this model are made from hair donated by my wife and daughter.

1939 Diamond T PAK-AGE-CAR Delivery Van

Scratch built model of brass and copper in 1/48th scale (1/4 inch to the foot). The first picture is the real truck that I took my dimensions off of, and photos of. Out of 3600 built only a few are known to exist. This little truck had a 4 cylinder engine. It had an optional front seat. Most of them you stood up and drove.

1951 Galion Road Roller

This was the first scratch-built model I made in this scale, (1/48th Scale or 1/4 inch to the foot). This model was built in 1983. It has a six cylinder Hercules engine.

1937 White Streamlined Tanker Truck

Scratch built in brass and copper to 1/48th scale (1/4 inch to the foot). This truck was never actually built. The model was scaled from an artist's concept drawing by Count Alexis De Sakhnoffsky. It has 198 pieces. Photos include steps taken in building process. This includes the use of steel bucks used to form copper or brass into the body parts for my models. I choose to use steel rather than wood because I work in a weld shop and have steel and the tools to shape it. Most of my models take about 1 to 2 years to build and that's hobby time not real time.Each one of my models are all hand built and are not kits.
