Ballad of Drinking and Shooting
This Performance was a collaboration with Robin Cameron, and began with a stage set comprised of a small colorful hut filled with a drum kit, an above-ground grave made of dirt, and helium-filled black balloons tied to the corner of a ramshackle platform. The work was performed in two parts, starting with a short country instrumental played by me on guitar and Robin on drums, followed by me drinking a beer's worth of whiskey and then signing along with Tom Rush's 'Sweet Baby James' on the stereo while cutting open a prosthetic belly painted and attached to my body. Half way through 'Sweet Baby James' I stumbled and fell into the watery grave, covering the stage with dirt and water, at which point Robin came out of her shack with a B-B rifle, and shot the floating balloons tied to the stage, which exploded in colorful puffs when hit
