In the beginning, we had an office with pretty purple walls.
We moved the office stuff downstairs, and put the baby things we've borrowed or bought in the China room.
Next up, the all important taping!
Our good friend Rachel volunteered to paint. Since we're all excited about having a boy, we decided to go with baby blue.
Niels got put to work when he came home from work.
Coat one is done!
Another view of the finished first coat.
It was a cold and rainy day when the Babies R Us delivery guys arrived.
It was definitely worth the extra charge for delivery.
First to arrive, the changing table.
Here comes the crib!
Such a big box for a little boy's bed.
Here comes the armoire.
Opening the big crib box.
Unpacking the box.
Even though these guys have put together hundreds of cribs, both of them had to undo things before getting it together right. But they were still WAY faster than we would have been!
The matching changing table and armoire.
The finished crib with receiving blanket from Papa John and Grandma Pat. Still need to get a mattress and bedding. Maybe next month!
Jen and Bailey try out the glider.
DJ's first clothes. Note the suit to the far left. Guess who picked that out? We also have a few red outfits for our Christmas baby. And yes, that is indeed a Browns outfit hanging toward the middle. Fortunately Gramma Chi has sent a Viking onesie to even things out!
We still need to get a changing pad (and diapers, and supplies), but for now we're showing off a few of our favorite things: Hannah Kennedy's panda bear, the world beach ball from our wedding, a bib from Alaska, Raggedy Ann and Andy from Grampa Elmer, a heartbeat bear and a basket of cute little toys. And of course, a few books!
The armoire is already filled up. Note the COW on top, and picture frames from Uncle Chris, Aunt Kelly and cousin CJ.
Jen tried out the baby wrap with Bailey. She was not amused.
Even the COW is a Viking fan!
Still need to figure out how to decorate the walls, and we need to find a little table to put by the glider, but it's looking good. (Thanks, Gramma Chi for the Viking onesie!)
A little Dutch connection: the crib was made in Indonesia, former Dutch colony.
Which weighs more? Niels or the crib....
