The Olgas - Kata Tjuta
The first of our Outback geology lessons
The 3-4 hour hike was closed do to high temperatures
So we did a shorter hike. Fly nets are recommended!
Hangin out at the 1/2 way point
Thorny Devil
Time for sunset at Ayers Rock
Ayers Rock - Uluru
The 6 mile base walk is a must do
with different views
and some hidden surprises
all the way around

Sunrise at Ayers Rock. See why it's called the Red Centre?
Hunting for Bush Tucker
1st find a promising bush
Then dig up the root and cut it open
to find the prize!
Best served cooked but in a pinch...
a protein filled snack called a Witichi grub
Tomorrow's adventure is Kings Canyon
We had the choice of tent
or swag, an Australian sleeping bag
Tonight it's sleeping under the stars
Outback luxuries - flush toilets & hot showers
Kings Canyon has 2 hikes - an easy 1 hour walk
or 3-4 hour hike with a 70 % grade to start
Don't miss the longer hike if you can handle it
The scenery
Beautiful and surreal
At the top of Kings Canyon
Defintely worth the effort. Wicked!
Even a 4WD runs into issues in the Outback
