HLF Club Picnic 2012

Got a chance to go to the Highland lakes Flyers Annual Picnic with my wife Nellie and son Gary Jr. It was the first time Nellie had a chance to see the field and meet the members and their wives. It was a hot day Texas day but the event the flying and food were really great. Photos 1 through 82 were provided by David Schaefer and the remainder I provided. I took a lot of pictures of Jeff Ellis and Young Scarborough large scale airplanes and not enough of a lot of the other planes and I am sorry for that. As usual a lot of pictures to look at.

It was a nice day at the flying field day today. Hadn't been out to the fly for over a year and it was really great to fly 5 times and have no damage to my planes. What fun it was.

The club put on another nice Party Food was from Smokie Joe's Barbque. I even picked up a few Raffel Items so it was a nice day. Nellie and I enjoyed the food too. A good time was had by all.

Another great Fall Texas day at the field. It started out cool and crisp like yesterday and warmed up nicely again no wind and a great blue sky. Glad I got out and spent the day with many of my friends. Only one thing missing to make this a more prefect day for me.

HLF Flights of Fancy 6-26-2010

The Highland Lakes Flyers held its Annual Flights of Fancy RC Airplane Demos and buddy box public fights as part of the Kingsland, TX Aqua Boom celebration. We had many children that got a chance to fly on the buddy box and a good time was had by all in attendance. As usual the day was a hot one but that didn't keep the activities from taking place. Additional pictures have been provided by David Schaefer they are towards the end of the album. Nice shots David!

HLF Picnic 5-22-2010

Dispite being an overcast and windy day the Highland Lakes Flyers had a great turnout and a nice day of flying. The company and the food was great also. Got a chance to try out by Red Dot Sight today it worked real well even with a dismal overcast sky. I can't wait till we have some better weather to give it a real work out. I restricted the resolution of the pictures because there were so many of them. If anyone would like a higher resolution copy of any of the pictures let me know.

HLF Brugnoli Float Fly & Picnic 2010 Apr 9

David Schaefer provided the following- On April 9th, George & Karen Brugnoli hosted a picnic / float fly for Highland Lakes Flyers at their ranch near Round Mountain. Joel Scholz contributed some very neat aerial views. Many thanks to George and Karen for making this a memorable occasion for club members. The weather was cooperative, and some members demonstrated unusual aerobatic skills landing and taking off. Jeff Ellis is due special recognition for his daring flight tactics! HLF Flying At The Field 26 Dec 2009

Got a chance to go out and fly today and test out my new Pentax K7 camera that Santa Brought. Have a lot to learn about how to get the most out of this camera so bear with me the pictures will get better. It was cold but no wind was blowing for most of the morning so it was real nice flying. I enjoyed seeing the guys this morning will get out again soon.

Just a beautiful day at the field. Got a couple of flights in on my old GWS Beaver Both Decathlons were grounded due to mechanical difficulties, need to get them resolved before I try to fly them again. The morning was calm with bright blue skies. It was great being at the field again.

Alpha Sim F-89D in the paint scheme of the 437th Fighter group at Oxnard AFB in the late 1950s. Really liked the paint scheme and the plane when I was a kid in Ventura County.

Hobby Lobby L-19/ O-1 Bird Dog Before Maiden Flight 6-14-08

It was a nice day today, a little breezier than I would have liked for the maiden flight of my new Bird Dog ARF. Had a couple of good flights but the landing gear is a little on the soft side and bent on each landing. I didn't get the gear straight after the second flight made a nice landing but not soft enough for the soft aluminum Landing gear that came with the plane. The plane is also a little on the heavy side so you have to fly it all the way down to the runway. Was real surprised at how well the plane flew once it was airborne. I attempted to take off after the 2 good flights and had problems with the plane tracking straight and the plane cart wheeled a couple of times. No real damage will have to work on the Landing gear to see what I can do to stiffen it up before I fly it again. I think I will like this plane.

2008 Apr 19 HLF Llano Crawfish Festival

On April 19, 2008, twelve Highland Lakes Flyers members participated in an aerobatic flight exhbition for the public as part of the annual Llano Crawfish Festival. Flying conditions were near perfect. Additionally, club members assembled a static display of model aircraft.

HLF Flying At The Field 11-1-07

It was a little windy at the field and cold this morning. Everyone got a chance to fly but we quit a little early this morning and we at DQ before 10:00. We had a couple of visitors this morning Gene Gunstenson from Marble Falls and his friend who was visiting, Wayne Shuck from Dallas. Wayne got a chnce to fly with us. Wayne is a member of the North Dallas RC Club thier website is ndrcc.com. Both gentlemen were a pleasure to talk with.

HLF Flying At The Field 10-30-07

The weather today was perfect, almost no wind at all. We had no incidents and all seemed to have a great time. The lack of wind made it difficult for some to keep from over running the end of the runway. We were all happy to see Ernest Seitz back at the field. Mike and Earnest flew Earnest's electric trainer with new power setup, seemed to fly very well.

Another beautiful day at the field. Dave Schaefer's T-34 crash landed on takeoff today and suffered some damage that's repairable. Hated to see the crash but it sure could have been a lot worse.

HLF Flying 10-26-07

Flying was great today a very nice day. There were two accidents today. Charles had his Twist go in because of an elevator servo failure. Charle's plane suffered major damage and will not fly again, good thing he has other Twists else he would goo through Twist withdrawal and that wouldn't be a pretty sight. Jim Archer had a dead stick and didn't know it untill it was too late to do a good set-up on the field. Jim's plane suffered minor damage and will fly again.
