we later learned that since Campeche is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the city is now responsible for maintaining the painting of the houses & buildings
It was so interesting to see the juxtaposition of the old fort walls with new construction and modern vehicles.
This part of the walled city was made into a museum about Campeche's history.
