This is the refectory (cafeteria), which is the main gathering place at "the House".
Sallie and her husband Dagnall are from Holy Cross Sullivan's Island. They, and their two children, will also be moving to Nashotah in the fall.
This is the campus bookstore. There are a few student apartments above.
Rob is standing near the front door of the bookstore with some fellow "potential" students.
I think this is a faculty house on campus.
This is either a faculty house or several apartments for single students. We still have a lot to learn about the campus!
Here is another shot of the refectory and Rob talking to fellow "potential" students.
This is a picture we took for the dogs. We wanted to get them excited about all of the squirrels we saw on campus--grey and black squirrels!
This is Dean Robert Munday's house.
These are townhouses called "the Peaks," where most of the married students and their families live.
Another shot of the Peaks
Another shot of the Peaks--though it's hard to tell with all of the snow, there is a grassy area with grills and such here in the center of the Peaks.
Next to the Peaks are the Flats, a row of apartments where more married students and their families live.
There is a black squirrel in the trees. It's another shot for the dogs.
Here I am standing next to the Nashotah House sign. Behind me is the library.
Here is the library, and in the distance, actually next to the library is St. Mary's chapel.
Here I am standing in front of "Michael," the one-ton bell on campus. The Angelus is rung Mon.-Sat. at 8 a.m., noon, and 4:30 p.m., calling the seminary community to prayer.
Michael and Julie
Here is Rob in front of the Red Chapel, the original chapel of the mission, built in 1843. It is used for Sunday services throughout the year and daily during the summer. Upper Nashotah Lake is in the background.
Rob and the Red Chapel
This is the "Blue Building," the first building constructed at the Mission in 1842. Each of the three rooms inside has a door leading outside--for easy access during Indian raids! You can see Upper Nashotah Lake in the background.

Rob inside the Red Chapel
Chapel of St. Mary the Virgin--this is the chapel that is used daily for Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer. Seminarians attend both services together daily. On average, they spend two hours a day in church.
Here is the inside of the Chapel of St. Mary the Virgin, ever foggy with incense. On the right and left are the choir stalls where the seminarians sit, wearing their cassocks and surplices.
Here is the altar.
A better shot of the choir stalls.
Rob made me take this picture of geese. Fascinating, I know.
The library--my favorite place on campus so far!

Julie standing on the Upper Nashotah Lake. It was obviously frozen through. You can't see them in this picture, but on the other side of the lake there were ice fishermen enjoying their "sport."
Not quite walking on water, but close!
Yeah, I was cold.
I just stepped in a pile of snow that was melting and thought I put my foot through the ice. Here I am walking back quickly, but softly.
This is a one-bedroom townhouse in the Peaks where we stayed while visiting. It is highly probable that we would live in a place like this. Nobody actually lives in this one. They have sparsely furnished it for campus guests.
Lots of kitchen storage!
dining/living room
living room; very small balcony outside
dining room; kitchen to right; front door; stairway; camera strap--who took this picture?
stairway to basement
laundry room in basement
hallway in basement; storage rooms to left and right
possible office in basement; students fix it up with inexpensive carpet or rugs and electric heater; it really makes a great office when furnished
