Grieving Goose
1 rainy day-2 Geese-1 Dead. The living sticking closeby. I looked around and saw an Otter's head poking out of the water. It dove under and then attacked the live goose and it jumped out of the water honking and fussing. Once things settled it went back to the dead ones side. Another goose had flown in only to be chased away by the mate. The goose then started squawking and swimming around its loved one bobbing its head and then got a launching start and flew away. Right after the goose left the otter emerged and checked out the scene. Then out of nowhere the mate flew back; at full speed it came in for it's landing...the target landing spot was none other than its loved one. A perfect landing, it was able to flip the body over so that the goose was floating on its back feet up. I can't imagine why the mate wanted to land on the dead one to flip it over. I can only assume it was part of its grieving process perhaps the only way it could be certain it was dead, still unable to accept it.
