'69 Intermeccanica Italia
My 1969 Intermeccanica Italia roadster was designed by Franco Scaglione - a brilliant Italian stylist. Bodies were hand-made in Milano, Italy by craftsmen hand-hammering steel over the carved wooden buck & then welding the completed body to a tubular chassis. Components like stainless steel trim, glass, and interior parts came from the same suppliers that Ferrari used for their hand-built cars in the '60's. This Euro-American hybrid still has its original interior and its original 351 Windsor, T4 tranmission, and 9" rear axle from Ford's 1969 Mustang program. Unlike many other great Euro-American hybrids, (Bizzarini, deTomaso, ISO, Facel-Vega, Jensen, Monteverdi, TVR Griffith, etc.), Italias were in production long enough to get most of the bugs worked out of the design - making the Italia one of the most reliable exotics of it's type. Also unlike other hybrids, Intermeccanica may be the only company besides Shelby still in the car business (though not making Italias any more - sigh!).
