6:08pm: The tower and the clock on Independance Hall. Someone seems to have forgotten the time change, however, because it was really 5:08pm when this photo was taken! (1/3200 sec @ f/1.8; 50mm) Copyright 2009, Kerri Shotts
Washington Statue: He looks resolutely onward, on a pedestal bearing his name, in front of the building where the Declaration of Independance was adopted and signed. (1/640 sec @ f/1.8; 50mm) Copyright 2009, Kerri Shotts
Wren: This little bird was quite happily doing its thing as I snapped up its picture. I'm sure it was wondering what I was doing pointing this big black thing at it (the camera), but since I've not telepathy, I can't say for sure one way or the other. He is a cutie, though, isn't he? (1/200 sec @ f/1.8; 50mm) Copyright 2009, Kerri Shotts
In Progress: Next to the Bourse building in Philadelphia stands this skeleton of metal. (1/200 sec @ f/1.8; 50mm) Copyright 2009, Kerri Shotts
Facing the Sun: They don't build them like they used to - the detailing on the facade is what caught my attention - it truly is amazing. (1/1250 sec @ f/1.8; 50mm) Copyright 2009, Kerri Shotts
Compressed Height: This was taken looking up to the tops of an ornate building. I found the detailing particularly striking. (1/500 sec @ f/1.8; 50mm) Copyright 2009, Kerri Shotts
Benjamin Franklin: Standing in the shade, this statue has a perfect view of all the people going about their daily lives - in part because of this man. (1/800 sec @ f/1.8; 50mm) Copyright 2009, Kerri Shotts
Walk Through History: This street is one of the old cobble-stone streets still preserved in Philadelphia. Something about it and the two people at the far end draw my attention. One thing's for sure - I feel sorry for the horses that would have had to walk on this stuff - it was hard enough in shoes! (1/500 sec @ f/1.8; 50mm) Copyright 2009, Kerri Shotts
All Lit Up: These lights are in front of the Bourse building in Philadelphia. It was after sunset, and these lights had just turned on. The contrast between the sky and the lights made for an interesting photo. (1/250 sec @ f/1.8; 50mm) Copyright 2009, Kerri Shotts
Someone Up There: At night this tower on Christ Church in Philadelphia takes on a whole different feeling; one wonders 'who is really up there?' and 'are they flesh and blood or spectre?' (1/100 sec @ f/1.8; 50mm) Copyright 2009, Kerri Shotts
Philadelphia Cemetery: Christ Church cemetery, at night. As far as I can tell there are no spirits walking around, but one never can tell! (1/100 sec @ f/1.8; 50mm) Copyright 2009, Kerri Shotts
Posts: On the other side of Independance Hall stands these posts. I really have no idea what they are there for, but it made for an interesting image, especially from this angle. (1/400 sec @ f/5; 210mm) Copyright 2009, Kerri Shotts
Digesting: Caught this bird having lunch - hence the title! These things are absolutely everywhere in Philadelphia, and they pretty much take no mind of us pesky humans - except when presented with food! (1/400 sec @ f/5.6; 300mm) Copyright 2009, Kerri Shotts
A Chasm of Blue: This sky was taken as clouds were passing overhead making lighting a fun trick - but it presented this fantastic image, so I won't complain. (1/2000 sec @ f/5.6; 75mm) Copyright 2009, Kerri Shotts
Going Towards the Light: I imagine this is what people refer to as 'the light at the end of the tunnel'. (1/4000 sec @ f/1.8; 50mm) Copyright 2009, Kerri Shotts
Frozen Face: Located above an entrance inside Independance Hall, this face stares blankly at the other wall, oblivious to the passersby. (1/50 sec @ f/1.8; 50mm) Copyright 2009, Kerri Shotts
Frozen March: General Washington on his horse, immortalized in statue outside the Philadelphia Art Museum. (1/4000 sec @ f/1.8; 50mm) Copyright 2009, Kerri Shotts
Enshrined Victor: Another view of General Washington on his horse, outside the Philadelphia Art Museum, but this has been processed quite heavily. The effect, however, is quite striking. (1/1250 sec @ f/1.8; 50mm) Copyright 2009, Kerri Shotts
Shining Glory: This image doesn't really convey the true sense of scale - this flag is truly huge. But on this day the sun was shining behind it, and gave the flag a translucent shimmery look that I couldn't pass up! (1/1000 sec @ f/5; 190mm) Copyright 2009, Kerri Shotts
From the Past to the Future: On a bright, sunny day, General Washington looks on stolidly at the changing shape of Philadelphia. One wonders what might be going through his mind... (1/250 sec @ f/5.6; 300mm) Copyright 2009, Kerri Shotts
Christ Church Cemetery: This was taken at the Christ Church cemetery Annex where Benjamin Franklin was buried. The arrangement of the stones and the lighting presented an interesting scene, so I snapped it up. (1/3200 sec @ f/3.2; 50mm) Copyright 2009, Kerri Shotts
Up Through Green: This tree had decided that it was going to start growing green leaves - ready or not. I happen to agree with it - winter had been far too long and I was happy to see this sign of spring. (1/640 sec @ f/3.2; 50mm) Copyright 2009, Kerri Shotts
Stones in a Row: Another shot at Christ Church Cemetery; the tree branches frame the stones well. (1/3200 sec @ f/3.2; 50mm) Copyright 2009, Kerri Shotts
Remember'd: A flag, placed next to a stone so heavily weathered that no trace of word or prose remains. (1/2500 sec @ f/1.8; 50mm) Copyright 2009, Kerri Shotts
One Way: On the corner of 12th and Market, not far from the Reading Terminal Market, stands this infamous Philadelphia sign. Infamous or not, it sure had some character! (1/500 sec @ f/1.8; 50mm) 2009, Kerri Shotts
Arch: Not sure what this is in the middle of this large grave marker, but it looked interesting, and so it got a picture. (1/125 sec @ f/4; 50mm) Copyright 2009, Kerri Shotts
Independence Clock: A closer view of the clock on Independence Hall. (1/3200 sec @ f/2.5; 50mm) 2009, Kerri Shotts
Dogfaced Puffer Fish: Isn't this guy adorable? And smart, too - he didn't want to stay around very long when he noticed the camera! (1/50 sec@Æ’/1.8; 50mm)
Wary Watchers: I caught these geese getting a nice drink of water. They also just happen to be watching me - no doubt wondering what in the world I'm doing! (1/2000 sec @ f/2.8; 50mm)
Red Berries: Ahhh, Spring! Finally there are some green leaves and blooms and berries around! (1/3200 sec @ f/1.8; 50mm)
Limbs: (1/4000 sec @ f/1.8; 50mm)
Tree of White V: (1/1600 sec @ f/4; 50mm)

Tree of White VI in Grey: (1/125 sec @ f/13; 50mm)
Tiny Berries: (1/1250 sec @ f/3.2; 50mm)
Liquid Gold: This image is actually a crop from a photo of a waterfall mirror. A few color temperature adjustments later, and this came out. (1/2000 sec @ f/1.8; 50mm)
Tree of White VII: (1/4000 sec @ f/2.8; 50mm)
Yearning for Freedom: This little yellow flower just seems to be trying so hard to get out of its pot and into some nice, deep soil! (1/2000 sec @ f/3.2; 50mm)
Soaring High: I'm not sure what bird this is - hawk or eagle, but he sure is a beauty. (1/3200 sec @ f/2.2; 50mm)
Ribbed: Just look at the texture of these leaves - aren't they amazing? (1/320 sec @ f/4.5; 50mm)

Flight in Stone: (1/400 sec @ f/1.8; 50mm)
Bench from Afar: (1/1600 sec @ f/2.5; 50mm)
Puffy White Stuff: This was taken between showers, with the sun about an hour or two ahead of sunset. The light and the sky were just perfect, and there sat this wonderful little white puffy cloud! (1/250 sec @ f/8; 50mm)
Sun Shower: Captured this photo on my way home; isn't it absolutely beautiful? I love the way the sun is casting the light rays and shadows - and the birds in the pic were an unexpected bonus! (1/500 sec @ f/8; 50mm)
Rain Drops on Window: After I got home, I managed to get this shot as a rain shower decided to start. I think it is an interesting pic, especially with the sun brightening the clouds in the background. (1/100 sec @ f/13; 50mm)
Peacefull Lull: The stormclouds in the distance indicate that this pretty vista may be drenched in rain soon, but nevertheless, it stands as a pretty moment in time. (1/250 sec @ f/8; 50mm)
Easter Blooms: These little guys were just starting peek above the ground and spread their petals. They literally begged to be photographed! (1/125 sec@f/4.0; 50mm)
Flying High: This cute plane decided it would fly overhead as I was busy taking pictures of other things nearby. It did not escape my lens, however, and I got several great shots of it. (1/1600 sec@f/5.6; 50mm)
Foggy View: Okay, so the original view isn't foggy in the least. That said, the picture is so much more interesting processed this way than unprocessed! (1/80 sec@f/9.0; 50mm)
Buds in a Row: A sure sign that spring is on the way, these buds were sprouting on a limb all in a row. (1/80 sec@f/7.1; 50mm)
Underwater Tangle: I'm not really sure what drew my attention to this particular mess of stuff under the water, but it ended up a cool pic none-the-less. (1/200 sec@f/5.0; 50mm)
Trees: Even though there are signs of spring around, these trees aren't one of them This image was processed to give a blue/sepia duotone effect, mainly to lessen the overexposed sky in the original. (1/160 sec@f/7.1; 50mm)
Limbs in Silhouette: Another yellow/blue duotone effect, but it works to marvelous effect here. (1/2000 sec@f/16; 300mm)
Robin on the Hunt: Isn't this guy so cute? Only one problem - the worms don't think so, and he's on the hunt for some tasty ones! (1/400 sec@f/2.2; 50mm)
Light and Silhouette: Branches reaching toward the darkening sky, accepting the encroaching dark while preparing for the dawn hours away. (1/250 sec@f/11; 50mm)
Watercolor Flower: This one was a happy accident, in that I doubt I could reproduce it again. It's pretty obvious this is a picture of a flower, but processed in such a way as to look like a watercolor painting. (1/125 sec@f/3.5; 50mm)
Sky Reflector: One of the buildings around Millenium Park, reflecting a gorgeous blue sky. (1/800 sec @ f/5; 97mm)
Resignation: Isn't this poor bird just so sad looking? Hence the title - he just looks so depressed and resigned. (sigh) (1/800 sec @ f/6.3; 200mm)
What's Up There?: This bird was just looking up at the sky - but I have no clue what he was actually looking at. Maybe a passing plane? (1/800 sec @ f/6.3; 200mm)
In Bloom: These yellow flowers are so pretty, and my lens thought so too. (1/320 sec @ f/4; 200mm)
Bean as a Mirror: The Bean in Millenium Park with the scene around it reflected to the lens. Notice the birds sitting on it too - apparently they really like to rest on this piece of art. (1/1000 sec @ f/4; 70mm)
Soaring: This gull was soaring high over the park, no doubt looking for some tasty nibbles! (1/2500 sec @ f/4; 187mm)
Fly-by: No tasty nibbles here; the gull flies onward for some greener pastures. (1/2000 sec @ f/4; 187mm)
Pigeon on Sidewalk: (1/640 sec @ f/4; 200mm)
Stop Taking My Picture: I swear, this gull knew I was taking its picture - just look at that expression! (1/2500 sec @ f/4; 192mm)
Squawk!: (1/2000 sec @ f/4; 191mm)
Is That Food?: A small bird looking at the various goodies on the sidewalk. (1/1000 sec @ f/4; 200mm)
What Am I: I think this little guy is a henslow's sparrow, but I'm not sure. Either way he's a cutie! (1/320 sec @ f/4; 173mm)
Gimme Food: Little guy out looking for some free snacks. (1/160 sec @ f/4; 173mm)
Chicago Fire Hydrant: Don't ask why I took a picture of a fire hydrant - I don't know. But I think this treatment looks cool! (1/400 sec @ f/4; 169mm)
Ancient Progress: Once one building is done, another goes up right next to it. Progress is never complete! (1/2000 sec @ f/4; 200mm)
