April 2009 - Haystacks and Fleetwith Pike
The weather today was forecast to start with sunny intervals, clouding over towards lunch and deteriorating in the afternoon. To that end I decided to complete another two Wainwright fells. We parked at the NT car park in Buttermere and enjoyed a walk along the lake before climbing above Warnscale to Scarth Gap. We then ascended steeply up to Haystacks where we were buffetted by strong winds. The forecast rain arrived as we took lunch near Innonimate Tarn, but by the time we reached Dubs Quarry it had brightened again. Therefore I took the chance to climb up to Fleetwith Pike whilde Dad followed the quarry path down to Gatesgarth. Reunited we completed the walk on the shore of Buttermere.
