The night before, Dad carefully puts his logos on his shirts.
The traditional shot before the opening ceremony.
Dad puts his "goal" sticker on the board.
Walkers and spectators preparing.
The mother banner that I never got the chance to carry! I was also trying to get a picture of the guy in the full body pink spandex.
The survivor circle in the opening ceremony.
During the weekend three of those guys actually wore pink spandex suits all at once but I never got a picture of all three of them together!
Getting ready to start walking!
Our first glimpse of the Capitol.
Self portrait of us and the Capitol.
Sculpture garden at an art museum.
The Capitol.
The Washington Monument.
My dad tells me this is the Smithsonian.
For my mom and my friend Dre, who both have names represented on this inscription.
Dad thought this was the Department of Agriculture--it was seriously the longest building I'd ever seen.
Lunch, Day 1.
Getting ready to hit the road again.
Our first glimpse of the Washington National Cathedral.
Me posing in front of the cathedral.
Gorgeous building!
Dad thought the theme of this pit stop was pretty funny.
The crew people try to follow the theme as well.
Done with day one!
Day two begins...walking around our camp in Germantown.
This daughter/mom/sister team had some pretty entertaining outfits. I think they were called the "boob-ies".
Posing at one of our pit stops.
At lunch, day two. The lunch was in this really cute little park, but whoever took our picture cut the entire park out!
This was one of the few cute areas we walked in on day 2. It was just a block or so of old town shops.
Some deer hanging out in a park.
Playing with the color accent feature on my camera.
A supporter at the cheering station who went all out!
A shaky video just to show all the crazy supporters at a cheering station.
Day two done!
Standing in line for the bus on day three to be bused back to the city.
Ready to walk on our final day!
Funny crew member.
Crew member encouragement.
Almost to the bus!
This guy sat along the route in a couple of different places on all three days.
Some great outfits.
This is my favorite 3-Day shirt--such a great quote.
This guy carried that sign all three days--and then wore underwear outside his shorts on day three.
Lunch, day three.
A beautiful bridge...
...and the beautiful view from that bridge.
This picture's all jacked up because I had it on a purposefully overexposed setting, but I wanted to show the cheering station.
More supporters cheering us on.
Cutest little house with a tiny little boy sitting outside with his mom yelling "save boobies!"
More cool houses.
Got stuck at a stoplight as one of the many emergency vehicles we saw that weekend flew past.
The next street over had cool statues at every intersection.
Us walking, reflected in the marble building.
Another cheering station...
...with actual cheerleaders!
They were so cute!
One of the many traffic crew volunteers.
Tons of tour groups on Segways.
Pennsylvania Ave.
Statue across from the White House.
This building is right next to the White House and I'd never even seen or heard of it. It's so huge and amazingly gorgeous! I looked it up and it's the Eisenhower Executive Office Building finished in 1888!
The White House.
It looks much smaller in person. :)
We didn't know what these guys were carrying but thought it must have something to do with the 3-Day since it looked like a giant bra.
White House gate.
This area right beside the White House was so beautiful!
I thought at first this was another emergency but the traffic guy said there had been motorcades going by all day.
I was trying to quickly get into video mode to capture the motorcade but didn't realize I was in black and white!
Another dedicated traffic crew member.
Sculptures outside the National Museum of Women in the Arts.
Another self-portrait in an office window.
This girl walked with boobs on her butt all day!
This young woman is an amazing survivor named Bridget who spoke at camp on Friday night. She's been battling breast cancer since she was 21.
A t-shirt for my fellow walker Kim who has an annual event by the same name!
This kid jumped on his pogo stick as we walked by.
Verizon Center.
For my KU friends, what does this building remind you of?
This building is the J. Edgar Hoover FBI building.
A motorcycle of one of the crew members.
Beautiful tree-lined streets as we near the finish.
Dad gets ready to cross the finish line!
Go dad!!
He definitely finished strong!
The courtyard of the Ronald Reagan building which was our holding area.
FINISHED!!
Getting our victory t-shirts.
The courtyard was such a beautiful area.
One of the many sculptures in the courtyard.
One of our 4-legged supporters. :)
I guess this was like a lower level courtyard.
Inside of the Ronald Reagan building...it was very cool.
Straight up to the ceiling view.
Back outside of the Reagan building.
Walkers getting organized for closing ceremonies.
The survivors gather in preparation for closing ceremonies.
This guy wore the Santa hat (along with short shorts) all weekend.
Making our way as a group to closing.
I should have done pink accents before everyone put their white shirts on!
This girls poor feet were pretty messed up.
Lots of pink accents.
Beautiful mums!
The whole mass of walkers on the way to the Washington Monument.
Our final destination.
Spandex guys at the end!
Another jumpy video, but a fun look at all the supporters that came out for the ceremony and all the walkers on their way to closing.
Lots of cheering supporters and a beautiful setting!
A low flying plane above.
Closing ceremony stage.
The survivors come in for closing ceremonies.
The survivors are honored at closing ceremonies. I think almost every one of them was crying! I was taken aback at how young most of them are.
Crew members Gene and Cindy that I met in Lawrence.
More survivors!
Bridget raises the final flag of the event.
The bra cake we saw earlier made it to closing ceremonies! They brought regular cupcakes too for all the walkers that were delicious!
Our gear was laid out nicely for pickup.
Dad enjoys a cupcake after closing.
