El Nogalito birds

Some of the birds seen at El Nogalito, January 2011. El Nogalito is a small ejido village about one kilometre from the main coastal highway between Puerto Vallarta and Mismaloya. I was surprised not to see any hummingbirds, sparrows or raptors in the few days I was there.

Isla Navidad - Birds and Wildlife in a protected tropical paradise.

Photographs from the Isla Navidad development on Isla de Navidad. There are about 500 hectares in the development, surrounded by the Barra lagoon to the north, and the Pacific ocean to the east and south. It forms a protected environment for many birds and wildlife and I appreciate the opportunity to explore and record.

We drove the "road to nowhere" which is a stretch of paved highway in the middle of the gravel road from La Huerta to Chamela. Along the way we saw a few birds. No as close as I would like, but here they are anyway.

These are birds you are likely to see wandering the beach in Melaque to Barra de Navidad, in the state of Jalisco Mexico, or in the sky overhead. I am an amateur photographer turned bird photographer, so forgive any mis-identifications.

Melaque birdwatching - lagoon and canal birds.

The canal runs from the river at the northwest end of town, around the west of town to the bay. The lagoons are at the east end of Villa Obregon (Laguna del Tule) and on the east side of Barra de Navidad.
