Google Earth 3D view of walk. From GPS log. Height exaggerated three (3) times. Total distance about 14 km. Blue = first bit, from car in Douglas Rd steep climb up the 'front' of the mountain. Grey = over the fairly flat top section to the Camels Hump lookouts. Red = a bit of a dull walk down a road
Map of Walk, from GPS log into Garmin MapSource software
Track is a bit uneven, you need to watch your feet a bit
Gives some idea of the fairly steep nature. This bloke is heading back down and it already some metres 'beneath' me
First real sunlight, means canopy opening up and we are nearly at the top of this bit. GPS showing about 1000 m elevation here. It snows in winter...
You pop out of the bush just here and there's the memorial cross
Hello Melbourne!
The walk from the memorial to the Camels Hump lookout is relatively flat and even. But very enjoyable.
View from Camels Hump area
More from the Camels Hump area (the more risky lookout)
The road down. Pleasant but not really 'bushwalking'
The houses on the road down, great views. Melbourne is just off to the left behind the shed.
Lovely house in the bush not far from where I parked. Cool 'observatory' on the top. On a steep hill with excellent views.
Spring burn off and light through the trees makes a pretty afternoon picture.
