This little girl, Neema, has a spine deformity. The Kenyans did not realize it could be corrected. Hopefully, we can get her evaluated by a mobile clinic to see if we can fundraise for corrective surgery.

This year we participated in a "Volunteer Day" in which community members came out and helped to clean up the school and learn how they could help children with special needs.

In 2007 we made a home visit to Neema to get her in a school.
I was so happy when I stumbled upon Neema this year at the Marafa School!

It is now furnished with beds and is home to many students.
This is where the bathrooms are, but they cannot be used due to water shortages in the area.
There is currently a need for a boarding facility for the older boys. The one that they are staying in now is falling apart and is condemned.

Due to the recent teacher's strike in Kenya, the students had been sent home temporarily. Unfortunately, Haidiga's father did not bother to take her back to school when the strike was over. Therefore, we visited her at home, only to find her half dressed with an empty cup and no water, food, or parents.
