Crown molding & Cap molding print out
This is PRE-ASSEMBLY
First Mistake! I had to cut the foundation off 3/4 to allow for my solid crown build up. The Tracksaw makes this fix easy!
Im not a fan of Jobsite dogs for lots of reasons...But My Siberian Husky "INDY" makes a great (at home) shop dog.
There was a mantel here before. We are replacing it because of a bad previous design. Huge Moldings, way out of proportions. I wish I had a picture of it...Oh well..
We built this to break down easy and fit on our truck. It worked out perfectly.
Pocket Screws are amazing to say the least!
Predrilling the foundation to get screws
screws are placed so they are all covered by molding
Counter sinking these Tapcon Blu concrete screws is a must, as well as gentle impact driving. The slightest of over tightening will cause the hole to strip...
There is PL adhesive behind as well.
Im smiling because it fit just as I planned. I was worried because it was a TIGHT fit!
Pocket screwing the edge band molding was a first for us! THANKS GARY KATZ your trick worked out awesome!
I took this shot with flash deliberately to show how dramatic the shadow lines are with this mantel. Very cool!
Im very happy with this design. It looks very formal and more historical than most mantels we have built in the past. This was an exceptionally fun build, install and design for me!
