CODEC Training Site Visit

Katrina, Tasneem, Zia and I went with our travel agent Mazhar to the CODEC (Community Development) training site a few weeks ago. This lovely little retreat is located outside of the hustle and bustle of Chittagong. To get there, you take a bus to the old Chittagong port, take a boat across the river (10 minutes), then walk to the CODEC site (30 minutes). It's out in the country and quiet.

Ali Road Event was organized by the Asian University for Women and the Goethe-Institute Bangladesh Goethe-Institute Bangladesh, the cultural wing of the German Embassy and Asian University for Women invite for the book presentation of “A Tale of Golden Girls”, a novel which focuses on the difficult situation of rural women in Bangladesh. The author Md. Abdul Jabber, born 1973 in Dinajpur has been engaged in various local NGOs and international aid organizations in Bangladesh before he went to Germany in 2003 on a scholarship of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) to study English and Political Sciences with a special focus on gender issues. I flew from London to Doha, Qatar. From Doha to Dhaka, they bumped me up to first class.

Layover in London (June 2009)

On my way to Bangladesh, I flew from Kansas City to Philadelphia, then on to London where I had a layover. I spent the day in London with Mr. William Marcombe and enjoyed the British accent to its fullest. The next day I flew on to Doha, Qatar.
