The Hobart based 'Mercury' newspaper are always keen to publish news and pictures related to astronomical events, and to keep science in a the public eye, it is worth making the effort to get them some images for a story.
Eclipse started at 14:19 and finished at 16:15. Here is a selection taken during the entire event.
A selection of these images were published in the Hobart Mercury newspaper.
Temporary set-up, unable to open main dome due to gale force winds. Here is my little EQ6 mount with a WO Megrez 90 APO and ZS Petzval 66. Nikon D300 set to take images every 2-minutes, all automated. Laptop used to control camera & mount.
GPS NX-01 receiver to imprint GPS data on each image and remote control to fire camera manually if needed.
GPS & Nikon Remote interfaces with AA battery supply to GPS receiver. GPS from Chris Carson in Canada. www.stargps.com
As it looked during the event, sky had a milky cloud haze.
Always a tense moment as the clouds roll in.
The scopes & D300 camera with GPS attached. I had planned to use the top scope to shoot video as well, however, the inclement weather meant too much gear to set up and get under cover if a downpour came.
