A popular food in Xinjiang is barbecued meat, in this case lamb, usually cooked on a sidewalk grill. It is delicious.

A truck passes a wind farm between Urumqi and Turpan. Strong winds frequently blow in this area, where there is a gap in the Tianshan Mountain range. This makes it an ideal place for harnessing wind power. The wind farm at Dabancheng, near here, claims to be the largest wind farm in Asia.
