A classical solar eclipse. You can clearly see the magnetic lines of the sun. It was even more vivid with the naked eye or through binoculars.
The sun just starting to emerge. Note the shape of the rising sun is uneven due to the mountains and valleys of the moon. Also note the faint prominence at about 7 oclock.
A classic "diamond ring". Time to stop looking at the sun.
This shot gives a real perspective to the event. The sunrise approaching from the ocean. The clouds are pretty but they can also spoil the whole event (one almost did). The eclipse cools the air substantially which can increase condensation. Last notice the LCD of the point shoot taking a picture of the even. Note how bright it appears compared to the darkness we are in.
