I guess we arrived in the prefab around 12ish?
The Appomattox Railroad Festival is a great event for children and adults. Just don't tell OUR children we went without them!
My children would kill me if they ever saw these... I will take them next year!!!
Volunteer firefighters competed against each other- it was really fun, inspiring to watch. All these small town firefighters are VOLUNTEER driven.
Rescuing the "victim" (a dummy) after donning their equipment.
File this under "I had no idea" - when rescuing, they use the buddy system- one lifts and walks backward with victim, the other directs their partner to safe exit.
Appomattox Habitat For Humanity was raffling off this playhouse, of course we bought tickets, what a great cause!
The local CASA raffle, yes we bought tickets for this too. Helping foster children find permanent homes is SO important.
Church choirs on the steps...
Love the mid-century touches-the rock accents, the font...
Soooooooooo. Which one of these home made bird houses do ya think we bought? Anyone? ; )
"Hmmmmmmm. Which one would Copeland pick?!?"
Tractor "train" giving many, many children a ride that day...
An outhouse bird house.
This guy was SO nice, with the Farm Bureau.
"Milking" a "cow"...
Deja Moo!!!! I finally got to see them after being an online fan for years!!!! http://www.dejamoo.us/
Brunswick stew! For another great local charity.
Pork rinds...
Now the firefighters are playing "tug o' war" except it's a barrel & whomever can spray it to the other side, wins.
Home again, home again, jiggety jig.
Awwwwwwww, he missed me. : )
So this would be 3ish in the afternoon- 71, 72 degrees inside?
Tire swing, outdoor shower, in the fall landscape. (No I'm not taking a shower today. Brrr!)
Don't forget, we still don't have systems installed so we have to carry in even our water- here, on the chair (we keep a dog bowl below for the dogs).
Now, after a great weekend, it's time to SIT, to grab a book, and quietly read in the waning sunlight.
Oh, in case you guessed wrong: the bird house I got was the camper. : )
The field below the house kit...
Discussing, again, trying to save the tobacco barn and how we would do it... (He's talking about jacking it up...)
The tobacco barn.
Sadly, it would have no modern purpose...
Creek.
Looking up, ahead on the road...
I believe this was a hog pen.
I *love* this picture...
Finally finished "Three Junes."
Composting toilet (NOT hooked up yet!)...
A dogwood thanks Handsome Hubby for it's release from competing weed trees.
Temperature when we woke up- 67.
Coincidence? The weekend without chattering children is the weekend we saw, not just heard, the wildlife? Hmmmmm.
